Summary · why it matters

CUSIP Global Services announced a collaboration with MSCI to expand CUSIP coverage to late-stage, venture-backed private companies. Under the arrangement, MSCI is providing CGS with access to MSCI Private Company Insights, its database of U.S.-domiciled, late-stage VC-backed private companies with at least one share class. Data attributes supplied alongside the private company CUSIP identifier include domicile jurisdiction, dividend details, company name, asset type, and sector and geography classification from PACS, MSCI's Private Asset Classification Standard. The two firms built on and expanded an initiative CGS launched in 2025, pairing MSCI's private markets reference data with CGS' data ontologies and feed capabilities. MSCI Private Company Insights provides daily pricing, valuation, transaction and liquidity data and covers more than 2,000 private companies representing more than $5 trillion in estimated valuation across its coverage universe; private company CUSIP information is available at CUSIP.com.
