Komatsu maintains high profit margins through a solutions business that leverages operating data from more than 820,000 machines, in addition to construction equipment sales. As of the end of March 2026, the number of KOMTRAX-equipped units reached 827,286, while its unmanned dump truck operation system for mining totaled 1,016 units, its forestry machinery fleet system totaled 3,875 units, and cumulative installations of hybrid hydraulic excavators reached 6,116 units. For the fiscal year ended March 2026, revenue was 4.1327 trillion yen and operating profit was 567.3 billion yen, giving an operating margin of 13.7 percent, far above the median of 7.9 percent for 158 machinery-sector companies. In the first quarter of the fiscal year ending March 2027, operating margin improved further to 14.5 percent, and net margin has exceeded the sector median in each of the past five fiscal periods. Meanwhile, the company's forecast for the fiscal year ending March 2027 calls for revenue of 4.302 trillion yen, up 4.1 percent from the previous year, but operating profit of 555 billion yen, down 2.2 percent, and net profit of 349 billion yen, down 7.3 percent, a planned profit decline. The share price rose 11.6 percent over one month to 7,414 yen on August 24, trading at 19.05 times earnings and 1.88 times book value.
