WHA Corporation Public Company Limited, or WHA, says Thailand's hosting of the World Bank Group and International Monetary Fund Annual Meetings in 2026, the IMF–World Bank Group Annual Meetings, from 12 to 18 October 2026, is a golden opportunity to serve as a bridge connecting investment from global financial markets to the real economy, both in Thailand and across ASEAN. Jareeporn Jarukornsakul, Chairwoman of the Executive Committee and Group Chief Executive Officer of WHA, said the meetings will welcome more than 15,000 senior leaders, investors, financial institutions and media from around the world, reflecting Thailand's confidence and potential in attracting high-quality foreign direct investment, or FDI. The International Monetary Fund estimates that emerging market and developing economies in Asia need investment of no less than 1.1 trillion US dollars per year to mitigate and adapt to climate change, but actual investment still falls short by about 800 billion US dollars per year. WHA said it is ready to support the core concept of Thailand's New Horizons through an industrial ecosystem built on three pillars. The first is responding to economic and geopolitical polarisation, with a logistics business covering more than 3.2 million square metres in Thailand and Vietnam and more than 17 smart eco-industrial estates spanning over 88,900 rai. The second is adapting to climate change, with a target for combined water sales and water management in Thailand and Vietnam in 2026 of 170 million cubic metres, total equity power generation capacity of 1,124 megawatts, and a goal of expanding electric vehicles under its management to 637 by 2026. The third is the transition to digital and artificial intelligence through data centres and upgrading to Smart Eco-Industrial Estates, with WHA targeting net zero greenhouse gas emissions by 2050.
