AIS has announced the expansion of its 5G-ADVANCED Uplink network to 100% service coverage across Bangkok, making the Thai capital the first city in the world with citywide 5G-ADVANCED Uplink coverage. The rollout uses Uplink 2CC technology on the 2600 MHz and 700 MHz bands over a 5G Standalone, or 5G SA, network, doubling maximum upload speeds, and AIS is ready to extend the capability to the main district of all 77 provinces nationwide. AIS customers with compatible devices can experience 5G-ADVANCED without subscribing to an additional package. At the same time, AIS is pressing ahead with Downlink 3CC development by combining the 2600 MHz, 700 MHz and 2100 MHz bands to raise maximum download speeds by 1.5 times, which currently covers most of Bangkok and is targeted to cover the entire capital by the end of 2026. Kittit Ngamjettanarom, Head of Technology at AIS, said today's networks must go far beyond being mere connectivity infrastructure and must evolve into a National Intelligent Infrastructure under the WISE Framework to support the growth of the AI Economy and pave the way for Thailand to become an ASEAN AI Connectivity Hub.
