Summary · why it matters

Alaska Airlines, a wholly owned subsidiary of Alaska Air Group, is expanding its Seattle Paine Field network with a 50% increase in seats from Seattle/Everett and new nonstop service to San Jose, California. The growth begins this fall and runs through the summer of 2027, adding flights to Los Angeles, Portland, San Diego and San Francisco. The new Seattle/Everett-San Jose route starts in Spring 2027 and will operate twice daily on Horizon Air, connecting Seattle Paine Field Airport and the north Puget Sound region with the South Bay and greater San Francisco Bay Area. Los Angeles will get twice-daily flights on larger Alaska Boeing 737 aircraft, and Portland will also see two daily flights. Andrew Harrison, senior vice president and chief commercial officer at Alaska Airlines, said Paine Field is an important part of the carrier's Puget Sound network and that the airline is strengthening its presence with more seats and frequency for guests in Snohomish County, North Seattle and beyond. Separately, Alaska Airlines plans to add daily Boeing 737-800 service on select Honolulu-Kahului flights beginning Oct. 3, 2026, including three Honolulu-Kahului round trips to support Neighbor Island connectivity.
