DBS Vickers Securities (Thailand) said in a research note that flooding during September and October 2026 will not have a severe impact on listed companies. Deputy Prime Minister and Finance Minister Ekniti said the impact on Thai GDP will not exceed 0.1%, and the Thai economy in 2026 can still expand by 2.0-2.5%. The research team said airlines, industrial estates and finance face negative effects. THAI was hit hardest by a shortage of staff at Suvarnabhumi, having to temporarily cut outbound flights from Bangkok by about 30% on September 29, with 59 flights already cancelled as of October 1. Toyota's four plants and Honda's two plants halted production between October 2 and 6 because suppliers could not deliver parts. At Amata City Chonburi, about 150 factories were affected and at least 34 halted production after flood barriers broke in phases 7-10. The groups that benefit after the waters recede are construction materials and construction materials retail. After the 2024 northern floods, flooded HMPRO branches saw sales rise 10-20%, while consumer goods retail gained a short-term boost from demand to stock up on drinking water, dry food and daily necessities in late September.
