Zoetis IncNew peer-reviewed data shows Simparica Trio provides stronger protection against a resistant heartworm strain than competitor NexGard Plus.

Zoetis reported new peer-reviewed data showing its Simparica Trio provided stronger protection against a resistant heartworm strain than competitor NexGard Plus. The study addresses a resistant heartworm strain that has become a growing concern for veterinarians and dog owners. The result sits within Zoetis' broader push to supply precision products for veterinarians dealing with increasingly complex parasite resistance issues, and directly targets competitive pressure in parasiticides from products such as NexGard Plus. The company, which operates as a large animal health pharmaceuticals business, recently reported a 1% revenue decline and U.S. companion animal weakness. Zoetis said its Apoquel and Simparica Trio franchises hold about 86% in clinic dermatology share and roughly 21% in clinic oral parasiticides share respectively, with around 28% puppy share.
