Citi upgrades Bureau Veritas to buy, sees 2027 margin above consensus

Citi upgraded testing and inspection company Bureau Veritas to "buy" from "neutral" on Friday, saying synergies from earlier acquisitions make a 2027 adjusted EBIT margin of 17.14% likely attainable, versus a Visible Alpha consensus of 16.65%. The brokerage raised its price target to €31.54 from €31.44, with shares of the Paris-listed company up 2.8% as of 04:15 ET after closing at €26.16 on Oct. 8. Citi put the expected share price return at 20.6% and the total return at 24.5%, including a 3.9% dividend yield, and lifted its 2027 adjusted EBIT forecast to €1.28 billion from €1.24 billion, citing a margin about 30 basis points higher, organic growth rising to 6.3% from 5.5%, and a bigger currency benefit. Since the start of 2024, Bureau Veritas has spent at least €823 million on acquisitions, including Lotusworks, bringing in €413 million of revenue and €49 million of EBITA, and Citi assumes the company reaches its targeted 15% to 20% return on those deals over three to five years, adding €26 million to €64 million a year to EBIT across 2027 and 2028. Citi named upgrades to consensus estimates over the next 12 to 24 months as the catalyst, with a bull case of €35.30 and a bear case of €23.70.

J.P. Morgan Upgrades Bureau Veritas to Overweight, Raises Target to €34

J.P. Morgan upgraded Bureau Veritas to "overweight" from "neutral" and raised its December 2027 price target to €34 from €28, citing faster organic growth and increased merger and acquisition activity. The inspection and certification company's shares closed at €26.57 on Sept. 28, according to the brokerage note dated Sept. 29. J.P. Morgan expects organic revenue growth of 6.8% in 2027 and 6.6% in 2028, above Bloomberg consensus estimates of 5.9% and 5.8%, respectively, with data-centre services expected to contribute about 1 percentage point to organic growth in 2027. The bank said 2026 should mark a trough in the company's growth cycle after project delays and disruption linked to the Middle East conflict, and it raised its 2027 revenue and earnings-per-share forecasts by 2% and 1.7%, respectively, while leaving 2026 estimates broadly unchanged. J.P. Morgan also pointed to scope for increased M&A after last week's capital markets day, where management raised its target leverage range to 1.5-2.0 times net debt to EBITDA, estimating Bureau Veritas could have more than €1 billion of excess cash available for acquisitions in 2027 within that framework.

TPIsoftware's GreenSwift Helps Ho-Team Construction Earn Carbon Verification

TPIsoftware's AI-powered carbon management platform GreenSwift has helped Ho-Team Construction complete a greenhouse gas inventory that received third-party assurance from Bureau Veritas, validating compliance with ISO 14064-1:2018. The construction firm partnered with TPIsoftware in 2025 and used GreenSwift's AI assistant to guide data entry and generate emissions reports ready for audit. A PwC survey cited in the announcement notes that while 80% of Vietnamese businesses have made ESG commitments, 71% remain in early stages of ESG data incorporation. Ho-Team Vice President Chien Tzu-Yun said the verification strengthens the company's position for Vietnam's planned carbon market launch in 2029, and TPIsoftware General Manager Yilan Yeh reaffirmed support for low-carbon initiatives across Southeast Asia.

Bureau Veritas DCF Shows 23% Upside Despite Mixed Valuation Signals

A Discounted Cash Flow analysis suggests Bureau Veritas shares are undervalued by about 23.1% relative to an estimated intrinsic value of €35.97 per share, even as earnings-based metrics paint a more neutral picture. The DCF model, which uses last twelve month free cash flow of roughly €834 million and assumes continued growth, points to a meaningful discount from the current share price. However, the stock trades on a price-to-earnings multiple of about 24.4x, close to a modeled fair P/E of around 23.2x, indicating it is roughly fairly valued on that measure. The company’s LEAP 28 plan, which involves rotating the portfolio toward higher-margin activities and away from areas like Oil & Petrochemicals testing, is cited as a reason the DCF implies more value than the market is pricing in. The key question is whether Bureau Veritas can deliver the cash flows and portfolio shift embedded in that plan, or whether the current discount reflects execution risk rather than a clear opportunity.
BVI.PA · Capital · Positive DCF analysis suggests 23% upside, indicating undervaluation.

Bureau Veritas to sell Oil & Petrochemicals and Coal testing business to Triton Partners for €470 million

Bureau Veritas has entered exclusive negotiations to sell its Oil & Petrochemicals and Coal testing and inspection business to Triton Partners, aligning with its LEAP | 28 portfolio rotation strategy. The business generated approximately €450 million in revenue in 2025 and is being divested at an enterprise value of €470 million, implying an 11.1 times EV/EBIT multiple on 2025 post-IFRS16 results. The transaction, expected to close by the end of the first quarter of 2027, will improve the Group's organic growth profile, adjusted operating margin, and return on capital employed, while being broadly neutral to earnings after closing. Proceeds will be redeployed into higher-growth, higher-margin activities, and following completion the Group will have executed around 20% portfolio rotation since launching LEAP | 28.
