AT&T and Ericsson completed a live test of advanced 5G network sensing for drone detection, using existing infrastructure with AI-driven algorithms to detect, locate, and track drones in real time. The trial targeted integrated sensing and communications, a capability often linked with future 6G concepts, and showed how AT&T's network could support security and monitoring uses beyond traditional mobile and broadband services. By using Ericsson's Massive MIMO radios and AI-enabled sensing algorithms on current towers, AT&T demonstrated how its infrastructure could help venue operators, airports, and public agencies detect and track drones at 300 to 400 feet without adding separate radar systems. The work aligns with AT&T's narrative around converged connectivity and could represent an additional optional service line over time, though turning demonstrations into contract-backed services will likely require capital, sales effort, and regulatory coordination. Investors may watch for signs that these trials turn into repeatable offerings, such as commercial agreements with stadium operators or city agencies.
DE Ministry opens 3 online reporting channels linked to IDMP to handle disasters
The Ministry of Digital Economy and Society, or DE, has opened three main channels for online incident reporting: Jitasa Care, Traffy Fondue, and the Jaeng Rat system, aiming to reduce data duplication and speed up disaster management. All three channels connect to the Integrated Disaster Management Platform, or IDMP, developed by the DE Ministry through the Digital Government Development Agency, or DGA, and the Big Data Institute, or BDI, together with the Department of Disaster Prevention and Mitigation under the Ministry of Interior. The platform links systems covering everything from disaster warnings and receiving reports of distress to mobilising rescue volunteers, evacuating people to shelters, and registering for compensation payments. Most of the systems are already operational, with only the disaster management and administration system still integrating data. Chaichanok Chidchob, Minister of Digital Economy and Society, said after attending a meeting of the National Disaster Prevention and Mitigation Command on 8 October 2026 that the ministry had assigned National Telecom Public Company Limited, or NT, and telecom operators to prepare primary communications systems, backup systems, and emergency systems in the southern region. NT and Thailand Post Company Limited were also told to prepare vehicles, high-lift trucks, and communications systems to support assistance for people nationwide. Arada Luengwilai, Deputy Director and Acting Director of the DGA, said the disaster warning system and the compensation registration system had already been used during the flood incident in Nan Province and in the current situation in Bangkok. The rescue volunteer system has more than 29,000 registrants nationwide and has been used in Nan Province and Sa Kaeo Province, where 554 volunteers registered and about 119 actually took part in operations. Professor Dr. Theeranee Achalakul, Director of the BDI, said the BDI developed a Data Hub system to link incident report data from multiple systems. It is currently connected to Traffy Fondue, Jitasa Care, and Jaeng Rat, and is in the process of connecting to the 1784 safety hotline of the Department of Disaster Prevention and Mitigation in order to gather data, verify it, and reduce duplication before producing standardised datasets and a Dashboard both during incidents and after relief operations.

Teleste Wins Siemens Mobility Contract for Copenhagen S-bane Modernization
Siemens Mobility has selected Teleste to deliver on-board passenger information and CCTV systems for the next generation of trains on the Copenhagen S-bane network operated by Danish State Railways (DSB). The initial contract value, excluding maintenance and additional train options, is approximately 40 million euros, with Teleste's deliveries scheduled to begin in 2028 and continue through 2040, and the first trains expected to enter passenger service in 2032. The project supports the modernization of the Danish railways through the introduction of 226 fully automated four-car trainsets, with an option for up to 100 additional units, creating the world's largest open railway system with automated train operation as part of the largest investment in the 90-year history of Copenhagen's S-bane network. Teleste's delivery includes on-board passenger information, public announcement, CCTV, and passenger communication systems, managed by its S-ARRIVE software platform. Valerian Sand, Executive Vice President, Public Safety and Mobility at Teleste, said the companies' first project together marks the beginning of a strong partnership in one of Europe's most significant rail modernization programs.

New iPhone 18 Pro and iPhone Duo Are First Apple Devices on Anterix 900 MHz Private Networks
Anterix announced that the new iPhone 18 Pro and iPhone Duo are the first iPhone models to operate on dedicated private LTE networks using Anterix 900 MHz spectrum. The two models bring iPhone connectivity to dedicated private wireless networks running on band 106 licensed 900 MHz spectrum, giving critical infrastructure operators another device for field communications, operational applications, video, situational awareness and other mission-critical activities. Carlos L'Abbate, Chief Technology and Engineering Officer of Anterix, said an iPhone used every day by millions of people can now operate on the same private 900 MHz network infrastructure that supports mission-critical operations, calling it another clear sign that dedicated private wireless networks are becoming mainstream communications platforms. With iPhone now supported on Anterix 900 MHz Band 106 networks, operators can incorporate a widely used mobile device into the same dedicated network infrastructure supporting specialized devices and operational systems across their environments. Anterix trades on Nasdaq under the ticker ATEX.
