Tenable Holdings Launches AI Security Product and Adds Board Member

Tenable Holdings has paired a fresh AI security rollout with a high profile board appointment, giving investors new information on both product direction and governance in the AI driven cybersecurity market. The news lands on a rising share price, with a 1-day share price return of 6.61% and a 30-day share price return of 38.13% feeding into an 82.97% year-to-date share price gain, even though the 3-year and 5-year total shareholder returns of 2.87% and 18.21% respectively show a weaker longer run record. Tenable Holdings closed at $41.59 while the most followed narrative pegs fair value at $35.35, an 18% overvaluation. The company's ability to consolidate multiple asset types, including VM, cloud, identity, OT and AI security, in a single platform is resulting in larger deal sizes and growing enterprise adoption, directly impacting top-line growth and average selling prices. Still, heavy exposure to U.S. Federal and public sector budgets, alongside intense platform competition from larger cybersecurity vendors, could quickly challenge the momentum story.

Trump Awards Science Medals to Musk, Nadella and Four Other Tech Titans Hours After Vance Targets Them

The Trump administration suspended the PERM green-card labor certification program for Microsoft and other companies on October 8, the same day President Donald Trump awarded top science medals to six tech billionaires, five of whom are immigrants. Vice President JD Vance, speaking at the White House that morning as chair of the White House Task Force to Eliminate Fraud, accused Microsoft of abusing the H-1B and PERM programs more than any other U.S. company and said the government had decided to suspend the PERM program for Microsoft due to an ongoing investigation. The suspension also affects Adobe and six IT outsourcing firms: Cognizant, Infosys, Tata Consultancy Services, Wipro, HCL Technologies and Capgemini. Microsoft pushed back, saying it only files H-1B petitions for those who meet the visa category's rigorous standards, while India called Vance's comments deeply offensive as USCIS data showed 70% of H-1B petition beneficiaries approved in FY 2025 were born in India. Later that day, Trump awarded the National Medal of Science to Elon Musk, Sergey Brin, Jensen Huang and Lisa Su, and the National Medal of Technology and Innovation to Satya Nadella and Michael Dell. The PERM suspension does not stop the companies from applying for H-1B visas, but the administration added a $100,000 fee to each new H-1B petition in September 2025, up from the prior $2,000 to $5,000 range; federal courts blocked and vacated the fee in June and September 2026, and the government is appealing.

Cloudflare acquires Deno to strengthen Workers platform

Cloudflare announced Friday that it is acquiring Deno, the startup behind the programming runtime of the same name. According to Cloudflare's Kenton Varda, principal engineer for Cloudflare Workers, the company will use the acquisition to improve its Workers programming model and platform, which lets customers build and run software on Cloudflare's network. Deno, co-founded by Bert Belder and Node.js creator Ryan Dahl, recently launched celld, an open source implementation of Workers that Varda said delighted the Cloudflare team. Varda pushed back on what he called a popular theory that Cloudflare made Workers work differently from other cloud platforms to create lock-in, saying the company believes being open source and giving people an escape hatch is good business. Dahl wrote that his team is joining Cloudflare to make the Workers programming model a mainstream way to build servers. The financial terms of the acquisition were not disclosed, and Deno had raised a total of $26 million, including a Series A led by Sequoia.

HSBC Upgrades Synopsys to Buy, Lifts Price Target to $700

HSBC upgraded Synopsys to Buy from Hold on September 25 and raised its price target from $490 to $700, implying a multiple of nearly 35 times HSBC's fiscal 2027 EPS estimates. Analyst Frank Lee said the company is evolving beyond its traditional slow-growth software profile as its licensing-plus-royalty model and agentic AI tools create a new path to benefit from AI. The upgrade follows Synopsys' fiscal third-quarter results, when revenue rose 42% to $2.48 billion, including approximately $711 million from Ansys, alongside higher full-year guidance. Synopsys announced a multiyear agreement worth more than $1 billion with Amazon on September 30, combining IP licensing with production-linked royalties, though the company has said revenue synergies from Ansys will not begin until fiscal 2027. BlackBerry Analyst Targets Split as QNX Strength Meets Secure Communications Caution

BlackBerry's analyst price targets have diverged, with one firm raising its fair value estimate from CA$11.96 to CA$12.71 while another cut its target to US$9.50 from US$10.30. Canaccord pointed to QNX as the main pillar of the BlackBerry story, highlighting record Q2 revenue of $80.3M and an 87% gross margin in that segment, and noted that BlackBerry lifted its FY27 QNX revenue guidance to $320M and secured a first Alloy Kore design win that adds more than $100M to the royalty backlog. Despite that strength, Canaccord cut its price target to US$9.50 from US$10.30 and kept a Hold rating, citing continued weakness in Secure Communications. RBC Capital maintained a Sector Perform rating and a US$9 price target, expecting a healthy Q2 update with revenue, EBITDA, and EPS possibly slightly exceeding its own and street estimates, but flagging that sentiment could be sensitive to commentary on the timing of Alloy Kore design wins and progress in physical AI and GEM. The fair value revision also lifted the revenue growth assumption from 9.41% to 9.55%, raised the net profit margin from 18.39% to 21.15%, lowered the future P/E from 43.53x to 37.86x, and edged the discount rate down from 7.83% to 7.81%.
BB · Capital · Neutral Analyst price targets diverge: one firm raised fair value to CA$12.71 while Canaccord cut its target to US$9.50 and RBC kept US$9, reflecting mixed valuation views.

Salesforce CEO Marc Benioff Rebrands AIForce as SIForce After Trump's Super Intelligence Push

Salesforce CEO Marc Benioff has become the latest tech billionaire to align his company's branding with President Donald Trump's push to replace the term "artificial intelligence" with "super intelligence," announcing that the company's AIForce product will be renamed SIForce. In an X post on Friday, Benioff wrote that "The era of Super Intelligence is here. AIForce is officially SIForce," signaling a major revamp to Salesforce's recently launched AI-powered live interface layer for enterprise clients. His announcement followed Trump's warning on Thursday that his administration considers anyone who uses the term "artificial intelligence" instead of "Super Intelligence" to be "THE ENEMY." In late September, Trump signed an executive order requiring all federal agencies to substitute "Super Intelligence" and "SI" for "Artificial Intelligence" and "AI" in public communications, websites, reports, and policy documents. Although the executive order does not apply to private organizations, SpaceX CEO Elon Musk earlier this week announced plans to rename his company's AI unit SpaceXAI to SpaceXSI, showing how Trump's new terminology is gaining traction among big tech.

BlackBerry Expands Asset Intelligence Platform With Dynamic Pairing Tool

BlackBerry (TSX:BB) expanded its Asset Intelligence Platform with new Dynamic Pairing technology for connected equipment in freight operations. Gulf Winds adopted Dynamic Pairing to improve visibility on how its trailers and other equipment are linked across day to day workflows. BlackLine Rolls Out Industry Blueprints, Achieves PCI DSS Compliance

BlackLine expanded its industry-specific financial operations modernization program, rolling out preconfigured transformation blueprints and templates for banking, insurance, energy, and life sciences, while also achieving PCI DSS compliance to strengthen security for high-volume payment card reconciliation in retail and financial services. The company said embedding industry expertise, AI-enabled workflows, and direct access to senior finance leaders into its platform is aimed at shortening deployment times and helping complex, highly regulated customers modernize core finance processes more quickly and with greater control. The product news comes alongside BlackLine's decision to expand its equity buyback authorization to US$600 million, a move that would deploy essentially all free cash flow into repurchases and could cushion per share metrics if revenue timing remains lumpy. BlackLine's narrative projects $1.0 billion in revenue and $168.4 million in earnings by 2029, requiring 11.9% yearly revenue growth and about a $133.6 million earnings increase from $34.8 million today, while some of the most optimistic analysts already assumed roughly US$1.0 billion in revenue and about US$216.6 million in earnings. NextNav Partners With AiRANACULUS on 900 MHz Sensing for Drone Detection

NextNav Inc. announced in October 2026 a partnership with AiRANACULUS to advance integrated sensing and communications across its licensed lower 900 MHz spectrum. The collaboration combines NextNav's ground-based 5G-powered 3D PNT network with AiRANACULUS's signal processing technology to enhance drone detection and counter-unmanned aircraft capabilities. The companies aim to reduce infrastructure needs for wide-area sensing while supporting digital airspace management and critical national security applications. The tie-up follows NextNav's August 2026 selection of Tiami Networks as a sensing ecosystem partner for 5G counter UAS trials in the same Santa Clara footprint, with both projects framing a catalyst around ISAC-based drone detection. NextNav's narrative projects $2.8 million revenue and $336.4 thousand earnings by 2029, assuming revenue will decrease by 11.5% per year and that earnings will rise by about $141.6 million from -$141.3 million today, while the central risk remains that FCC timing and commercialization of the 900 MHz asset could slip.

Fair Isaac Shares Fall 34% as VantageScore Threat Tests FICO Moat

Fair Isaac Corporation has declined by over 34% since the end of March, a sharper drop than the broader market, as the mortgage scoring landscape shifts and VantageScore gains ground with Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac. FICO's moat rests less on unique data than on the financial system's trust in its interpretation, and management says lenders are now pulling both scores, creating an incentive to score shop that could pressure pricing power. The company's Platform ARR grew 62% year over year in the latest reported quarter, while platform net retention reached 148%, and platform revenue overtook the older non-platform business for the first time. On October 6, FICO announced plans to cut roughly 15% of its workforce as part of an AI-focused restructuring. At 16.08x forward earnings and a trailing P/E of 25.47x, the stock is no longer priced as if its dominance will last forever, and hedge fund sentiment weakened in the second quarter, with 50 funds holding FICO, down from 60 in the first quarter, while the value of their positions rose slightly from $2.93 billion to $2.94 billion.

Palantir Upgraded by Goldman Sachs as Armada Sovereign AI Deal Announced

Goldman Sachs and other Wall Street firms upgraded their views on Palantir Technologies in early October 2026, citing accelerating demand for sovereign AI, bespoke applications, and its verticalized AI platforms across government and commercial customers. At the same time, Palantir and Armada announced a partnership to deliver sovereign AI on modular data centers manufactured in the U.S. and allied nations, reinforcing Palantir's pitch that customers can keep models, data, and infrastructure entirely within their own security perimeter. At an October 8 White House press conference, Vice President JD Vance singled out Microsoft as a major abuser of the program, saying the company laid off 6,000 American workers last year while still applying for 6,300 H-1B visas and nearly 3,000 green cards. "You cannot lay off American workers and then replace them with foreign indentured servants," Vance said. Microsoft responded in a blog post that 80% of the 6,000 H-1B applications it filed last year were to extend or change the status of employees already at the company, and that the remaining 20%, for new employees, covered people already legally in the country and equaled 1% of its U.S. workforce. The company added that it pays H-1B employees the same as any other employees doing comparable work, and that its wages are among the highest of all H-1B filings. In the same press conference, Vance and other administration officials named nine universities — Harvard, Yale, Stanford, Brown, the University of Pittsburgh, the University of California, Davis, the California Institute of Technology, Arizona State and the Massachusetts Institute of Technology — for excessive use of J-1 visas, a day after the administration proposed a $70,000 fee for international students seeking to work in the U.S.

Microsoft CEO Satya Nadella on Friday unveiled Microsoft-Decision-1, a new fast decision-making artificial intelligence model. Nadella said in a post on X that the model delivers top performance on structured decision tasks, outperforming both LLMs and other decision models in latency and quality, and that Microsoft is already testing it across the company for everything from incident response and quality control to scientific discovery. Microsoft said in a blog post that the model is designed for routing, classification, prioritization, verification, and workflow control, making it easier to incorporate decision intelligence into existing applications, agents, and workflows in a secure, trusted environment. Microsoft added that Microsoft-Decision-1 is 4.5 times quicker than Quyet-1.0-Large and 35 times quicker than OpenAI's GPT-6 Sol. Microsoft Pushes Back on H-1B Green Card Restrictions as Startups Face Talent Risk

Microsoft is pushing back against the Trump administration's restrictions affecting employment-based green card applications for H-1B workers. On a Market Hang panel, SHAKTI partner Liz Harrow said large companies like Microsoft have massive teams to handle daily H-1B changes, but startups are hit harder because they lack the bandwidth to navigate them, and talent is the competitive advantage startups rely on. The discussion noted that Microsoft's specific dispute concerns PERM, the path toward obtaining a green card for an employee, while H-1B is the broader story. Panelists pointed to Satya Nadella's White House appearance the day before receiving an award and to Elon Musk's support for H-1B visas. Zacks Investment Management chief market strategist Brian Mulberry said global capital and talent keep flowing to the United States because it is the best place to invest, especially in technology and AI, and warned that heavy-handed regulation could stifle that demand.

Oracle Trucks Natural Gas to Data Centers as Pipeline Delays Bite

Oracle is trucking natural gas directly to its data centers to keep construction on schedule, a stopgap measure it is considering for a build in New Mexico where a needed gas pipeline is delayed. The company is already running 30 trucks a day to data centers outside Salt Lake City, according to Bloomberg reporting. Oracle did not respond to requests for comment, but later posted on social media praising the partner helping it carry out the effort. The news added to pressure on Oracle shares, which had already been sliding amid confusion over OpenAI's ARR figure, though the stock was up almost 5% on the day. Analysts said the move signals the delays are more significant than the market expected, since trucking gas is a measure normally reserved for remote mining or temporary industrial operations.

Trump Suspends Microsoft From Green Card Program, Then Honors CEO Satya Nadella

The Trump administration said it would suspend eight technology companies from a green card program that lets them bring foreign workers into the US and obtain permanent residency, with Microsoft at the top of the list. Adobe was also on the list, along with a number of Indian outsourcing and IT companies known for outsourcing, including Cognizant and Infosys. Vice President JD Vance called Microsoft the worst offender in the program. On the same day, Microsoft CEO Satya Nadella was at the White House receiving an award for his innovation and tech leadership. BlackBerry Wins First Alloy Kore Deal, Adding Over $100 Million to QNX Backlog

BlackBerry Limited has secured its first Alloy Kore design win, the largest in QNX history, after Coretura selected the platform for its next-generation high-performance compute architecture. Coretura is the commercial-vehicle software joint venture between Volvo Group and Daimler Truck, and the planned deployment spans multiple software domains. The award is expected to add more than $100 million in future royalties to QNX, whose royalty backlog stood at approximately $950 million at the end of fiscal 2026. Management said the Alloy Kore average selling price per instance in the Coretura win is roughly three times the customer's current QNX operating-system deployment, though it does not expect the deal to materially change BlackBerry's fiscal 2027 revenue profile because most royalties will be realized after vehicles enter production. BlackBerry said it is pursuing additional Alloy Kore opportunities with global automakers and major Tier 1 suppliers, particularly in Europe and Asia.

Zscaler Reaffirms Fiscal 2027 Outlook and Expands AI Security Partnership With IBM and Red Hat

Zscaler reaffirmed its fiscal 2027 outlook, guiding first-quarter revenue to about US$935 million to US$939 million and full-year revenue to roughly US$3.91 billion to US$3.94 billion, while outlining a long-term ambition for much higher annual recurring revenue. The company also announced a collaboration with IBM and Red Hat aimed at protecting private applications during the gap between vulnerability disclosure and patching. The reaffirmed guidance supports Zscaler's near-term execution story, though slower expected revenue growth remains a key risk if competition tightens or deal cycles lengthen. Zscaler's narrative projects US$5.3 billion in revenue and US$178.4 million in earnings by 2029, requiring 16.6% yearly revenue growth and a US$241.6 million earnings increase from negative US$63.2 million today. More cautious analysts assume revenue of about US$5.2 billion and earnings near US$16 million by 2029, a more restrained view of how quickly Zscaler's newer security pillars could scale.

Salesforce Names Virginia Sharma CMO of Missionforce Public Sector Unit

Salesforce appointed Virginia Sharma as chief marketing officer of its Missionforce public sector business in September 2026, tapping more than 25 years of global technology marketing and sales experience across IBM, LinkedIn, JioSaavn and Google to lead worldwide government-focused marketing from McLean, Virginia. Her background in scaling public sector cloud adoption and AI-focused campaigns at Google and other large enterprises could strengthen Salesforce's push to position Missionforce and its AI platforms at the center of digital transformation for public institutions. The appointment is seen as helpful for Missionforce's public sector push but does not materially change the near-term focus on proving secure, resilient AI at scale, or the risk that customers resist higher-priced AI bundles around AIforce, Slackforce and Agentforce. Salesforce's narrative projects $58.7 billion in revenue and $10.7 billion in earnings by 2029, requiring 10.1% yearly revenue growth and an earnings increase of about $1.0 billion from $9.7 billion today, with a $281.08 fair value implying 23% upside. Some of the most optimistic analysts, penciling in revenue of about US$60.9 billion and earnings of roughly US$11.4 billion by 2029, see trusted, secure agents as the real swing factor, so Sharma's arrival might eventually strengthen their case.

Rezolve Ai Launches RezolvePay to Let Any AI Shopping Agent Complete Purchases

Rezolve Ai has unveiled RezolvePay, a system that lets consumer AI agents interact with merchant-side agents and complete purchases, targeting a global retail industry of approximately $30 trillion in annual sales. The company cited McKinsey estimates that AI agents could mediate $3 trillion to $5 trillion of global consumer commerce by 2030, and said its strategy is to supply the commerce and payment infrastructure through which retailers, brands and enterprise partners participate in that shift. Rezolve Ai published a video showing Meta's Muse interacting with a coffee shop's RezolvePay agent to complete an online order for in-store collection, with a receipt identifying Muse as the agent that placed the order. Naga Samineni, CEO of RezolvePay, said consumers will choose different assistants to shop for them and retailers need the ability to serve those customers whichever agent they use, adding that Rezolve Ai sits on the merchant's side of the interaction and that its proprietary payment rails give it a role in the infrastructure and economics beneath the purchase. India Rebukes U.S. Suspension of Microsoft, Indian Firms from PERM Program

India criticized the Trump administration's decision to suspend the Permanent Labor Certification program, calling it contrary to the shared ambitions of the two countries, according to a foreign ministry statement on Friday. The U.S. government on Thursday suspended multiple companies from using the Program Electronic Review Management system, as Vice President JD Vance called out rampant fraud in the H-1B visa program by the tech industry. Vance singled out Microsoft, saying no U.S. company had abused the system more, and the suspensions also target Cognizant, Infosys, Wipro, Adobe, HCL and Capgemini, firms either based in India or with large operations there. India described Vance's comments as unwarranted and said terminology carrying painful historical and colonial legacy connotations was deeply offensive, while its Ministry of External Affairs said talent mobility adds value to both economies. The suspension does not affect existing H-1B visas but could disrupt permanent residency and green card applications.
