Everyone talks about the expensive GPU chip, but a single chip does nothing on its own — it only works thanks to the thousands of 'supporting actors' around it. Tiny capacitors, the circuit board, and the substrate the chip sits on. One AI server uses 2,000–5,000 of these parts, and they're turning into a new bottleneck and a new supercycle.
AI demand tightens connectors, MLCCs and boards; consumer electronics is the drag
▲
AI data-center demand keeps tightening supply of connectors, boards and passives AI server and data-center orders keep outrunning supply. TTM expects about $600 million of AI-board business in the second half, with data-center sales up 91%; Shengyi is spending 2.26 billion yuan on high-speed interconnect boards; Nitto Denko is putting 28 billion yen into HDD circuit boards. Tight supply supports prices and profits across connectors, boards and passives.
It is the core force lifting the theme: real AI orders and capacity spending, not just sentiment.
MLCC shortage and price hikes spread, pulling in new capacity and deals High-capacity MLCC prices for AI servers are up 15–35%, with some spot prices several times higher, and the shortage is expected to last. Sunway is buying 55% of an MLCC maker for 1.1 billion yuan, and Sidike is investing 1.65 billion yuan in MLCC release-film base material. Scarcity gives passive makers strong pricing power.
It shows the passive side of the theme is in a genuine up-cycle with pricing power and follow-on investment.
Earnings confirm the boom: fiberglass, PCB and connector profits jump China Jushi expects first-three-quarter profit up 100–110% on higher fiberglass volumes and prices. Kinwong sees third-quarter profit up 205–265% on AI and high-speed communication boards, and Delton expects profit up about 100%. Shenglan's connector profit rose 54%. These results show the AI buildout is flowing into real earnings.
Hard profit numbers are the clearest proof the theme's demand is translating into money, not just orders.
Consumer electronics stays weak, and some AI hopes are still unproven Apple's foldable iPhone and a foldable-driven premium cycle are a plus for high-end phone boards and passives. But memory-driven price rises and weak phone and PC demand still cut orders for ordinary connectors and passives. Some small PCB names also denied Nvidia links, a reminder that not every AI claim is real.
It is the honest counterweight: the AI boom is real, but consumer demand and unproven AI stories cap the theme.

Asia Plus Concerned About Flooding at KCE and HANA Plants, Picks DELTA as Top Electronics Stock
Analysts at Asia Plus Securities Public Company Limited said that water levels at the C.29 gauging station in Bang Sai, Ayutthaya Province, have begun rising sharply, though still below 2011 levels, with the latest reading at 78% of the 2011 level. Meanwhile, the C.2 station in Nakhon Sawan remains below half of its 2011 level. If Ayutthaya Province is at risk of flooding, it would affect KCE and HANA, which have factories in the Hi-Tech Industrial Estate in Ban Wa Subdistrict, Bang Pa-in District. Although there are currently no reports of water entering the estate, the impact on key transport routes and production at both companies must be monitored. The research team views the flooding issue as only a short-term pressure factor that could affect transport and employee commuting in early the fourth quarter of 2026, but it will not affect the production base as it did in 2011. It also expects electronics sector profits in the third quarter of 2026 to grow both quarter-on-quarter and year-on-year, and to climb to a peak in the fourth quarter of 2026, driven by DELTA, whose share price still lags the sector. It therefore maintains an "overweight" rating on the electronics sector.

Krungsri upgrades electronics stocks to Bullish, highlighting DELTA and KCE as top picks
The analyst team at Krungsri Securities has raised its recommendation on the electronic components sector to Bullish from Neutral, expecting every company in the group to post stronger earnings in the third quarter of 2026 than in the second quarter, with momentum continuing through the fourth quarter of 2026 and into 2027. The brokerage expects the industry's combined profit to grow 52% in 2027, accelerating from 42% in 2026, driven by demand for both AI-related and non-AI products. It recommends buying all three stocks under coverage: DELTA with a target price of 320 baht and KCE with a target price of 97 baht, naming them top picks on the theme of product price increases, which should deliver the strongest net profit per share growth in 2027. DELTA is expected to post profit growth of 51% in 2027, up from 42% in 2026, while KCE is seen growing from 77% in 2026 to 82% in 2027, and HANA from 24% in 2026 to 45% in 2027. The brokerage also raised its earnings forecasts for KCE by 5% for 2026 and by 28% for 2027 to reflect its positive view that KCE is entering a sustained cycle of product price increases, including one more price increase in October 2026 on top of the two previously expected in July 2026 and January 2027. Murata Starts Mass Production of World's Smallest 0201-Inch Three-Terminal Low-ESL MLCCs
Murata Manufacturing has begun mass production of the LLD series, which it calls the world's smallest three-terminal low-equivalent series inductance multilayer ceramic capacitors. The new parts measure just 0201-inch size, or 0.6 by 0.3 millimeters, cutting mounting area by approximately 64 percent compared with Murata's previous smallest 0402-inch size of 1.0 by 0.5 millimeters. Murata said it overcame the difficulty of miniaturizing three-terminal capacitors, whose internal and external electrode structures are more complex than conventional two-terminal types, by optimizing the electrode design and advancing its manufacturing processes. Two models are available: the LLD033R60G105ME01 with 1 microfarad capacitance, 4 Vdc rated voltage and an operating temperature range of -55 to +85 degrees Celsius, and the LLD033D80E105ME01 with 1 microfarad capacitance, 2.5 Vdc rated voltage and a range of -55 to +105 degrees Celsius. The company said the smaller footprint frees up printed circuit board space in compact devices such as smartphones and wearables while stabilizing power supply voltage near ICs at high frequencies.

Kasikorn Securities Expects Electronics Group Earnings to Accelerate in Second Half of 2026, Recommends Buying DELTA with 300 Baht Target, HANA with 56 Baht Target
Analysts at Kasikorn Securities remain positive on the electronics group in the fourth quarter of 2026, expecting second-half 2026 earnings to accelerate notably, led by DELTA benefiting from capacity utilization and recovering margins, HANA from the ramp-up of AI-related products, and KCE from higher PCB sales volumes and upward ASP adjustments. AI and data centers are the main structural growth drivers underpinning continued demand for power electronics, advanced PCB, PCBA, and semiconductor components, supported by high demand from hyperscalers, gradually easing component constraints, an improved product mix, and a weaker baht, which is a positive factor for exporters' gross margins. However, risks remain from high raw material costs, particularly copper, fiberglass, copper clad laminate, and various electronic components, as well as the uneven recovery of end markets unrelated to AI, especially the automotive and EV segments. Strategically, the analysts recommend gradually accumulating electronics stocks on market dips, with DELTA rated Buy at a 300 baht target price, HANA rated Buy at a 56 baht target price, and KCE rated Hold at a 60 baht target price.
