Apple to Ship HomePad Screen on October 13 Without Enterprise Siri

Apple will host its Welcome Home event in Tribeca on October 13, unveiling the HomePad, a device expected to feature a 6-inch square display, the A18 chip, and Face ID, with a rumored price point of $350. The hardware arrives without the conversational, multi-step HomeKit agent that was meant to power it, now delayed until late 2026 or early 2027, leaving only notification summaries and natural language search for HomeKit Secure Video at launch. As of October 11, Siri AI has reached its 28th day since the September 14 beta launch with no enterprise tier, no administrative control, no audit logging, and no SSO, and IT departments are actively blocking or disabling it. Competitors have moved faster: Meta's Muse, launched September 8, has 1.1 million installs and three pricing tiers at free for 100 million tokens per week, $20 per month for Power, and $100 per month for Maximum, plus an Enterprise Platform led by former MongoDB CEO CJ Desai, while xAI's GrokBot has roughly 400,000 users after its August beta launch and is embedded in Cursor Premium Teams at $120 per seat per month. Ketan Karkhanis, CEO of ThoughtSpot, said on CNBC on October 7 that enterprise-scale agentic workflow adoption is still in its early chapters, and the October 13 event will show whether Apple offers any roadmap or timeline for enterprise-grade Siri or cedes the market to rivals that have already shipped the governance layer.
AAPL · Technology · Negative HomePad ships October 13 without the conversational multi-step HomeKit agent, and Siri AI still lacks enterprise tier, admin controls, audit logging, and SSO, with IT departments blocking it.
META · Competition · Positive Meta's Muse has 1.1 million installs, three pricing tiers, and an Enterprise Platform, moving faster than Apple's delayed enterprise Siri.

Apple Discloses Reverse Acqui-Hire Deal With Podcast Startup Huxe

Apple has disclosed in a regulatory filing that it reached an agreement to hire team members and license technology from personalized audio startup Huxe, in what is commonly known as a reverse acqui-hire. Apple told the European Commission it agreed to make employment offers to certain employees of Huxe AI and to receive a non-exclusive license to Huxe's intellectual property rights. Huxe was founded by developers who had previously worked on the AI-generated podcast features in NotebookLM, recently renamed Gemini Notebook, and the startup announced on May 21 that it was shutting down, pulling its app from the Apple and Google stores, halting service, and deleting user data. Apple notified the European Commission of the deal on June 9, shortly after Huxe's shutdown announcement. The filing does not say who received employment offers or whether they accepted, nor does it disclose Apple's plans; Huxe's shutdown came just a day after Spotify unveiled AI-powered podcast generation features of its own.

Over the trailing twelve months Dell has generated $151.2 billion in cumulative revenue, though its roughly 9.4% operating margin and 7.52% net margin remain well below typical software or chip peers. In September the company's investment-grade bond sale was massively oversubscribed, upsized from an initial $4 billion target to $5 billion amid strong demand tied to its AI server business. Apple Cuts iPhone 18 Pro Component Orders 15% to 20% on Soft Demand and Memory Costs

Apple asked suppliers to cut October component orders for its new iPhone 18 Pro and Pro Max by at least 15% to 20%, according to early October 2026 reports, citing softer demand and sharply higher memory chip costs tied to AI infrastructure. The order reduction lands on the iPhone 18 and foldable iPhone Duo cycle, which the article frames as Apple's key near-term catalyst, and reflects pressure from elevated component pricing and mixed reception to higher flagship iPhone prices. Separately, Apple made Formula 1 available in Dolby Vision and Dolby Atmos on Apple TV in the U.S., a Services-side addition that does not offset the weaker iPhone 18 Pro demand or elevated memory pricing. Apple's narrative projects $618.2 billion in revenue and $164.4 billion in earnings by 2029, requiring 9.8% yearly revenue growth and roughly a $35.5 billion earnings increase from $128.9 billion today, with a $328.09 fair value implying 3% downside to the current price. The most pessimistic analysts already assumed about US$624,000,000,000 in revenue and near US$156,000,000,000 in earnings by 2029 on thinner margins, and the demand wobble and memory cost spike could push that cautious view on execution and profitability further.
AAPL · Demand · Negative Apple cut iPhone 18 Pro component orders 15-20% on softer demand for its flagship phones.
AAPL · Supply · Negative Sharply higher memory chip costs tied to AI infrastructure pressure Apple's component costs and margins.

On October 10, the State Administration for Market Regulation issued an announcement, deciding to approve with restrictive conditions the acquisition of Xinchao Media by Focus Media. From the effective date, both parties to the transaction and the post-concentration entity shall comply with six restrictive conditions, including continuing to perform existing customer contracts and all their commercial terms, and continuing to provide elevator media advertising services under the principles of fairness, reasonableness, and non-discrimination. Focus Media stated that it will advance the transaction in accordance with laws and regulations, focusing on price stability and fair services. Looking back, in April 2025, Focus Media disclosed a restructuring plan, proposing to acquire 100 percent equity in Xinchao Media through the issuance of shares and payment of cash, with a preliminary valuation of 8.3 billion yuan. Focus Media's acquisition of Xinchao Media clears antitrust review with six restrictive conditions valid for five years

The State Administration for Market Regulation announced on October 10 that it has approved, with restrictive conditions, Focus Media Information Technology's acquisition of equity in Chengdu Xinchao Media Group, marking important progress in the consolidation of the elevator media industry. The announcement shows that in 2024, Focus Media held a 50 to 55 percent share of China's elevator media advertising market, ranking first and presumed to have a dominant market position. Xinchao Media held a 5 to 10 percent share, ranking second. The combined entity would hold a 55 to 60 percent share, strengthening its dominant market position. The State Administration for Market Regulation requires both parties and the combined entity to fulfill six restrictive conditions, including continuing to perform existing customer contracts and commercial terms, maintaining service levels no lower than before the transaction, ensuring that annual actual transaction prices in each city do not exceed the actual transaction prices of both parties in the corresponding cities during the 24 months before the effective date, providing services fairly, reasonably, and without discrimination, relinquishing all rights under exclusive clauses already in effect with property management companies and other location resource holders, and not entering into exclusive clauses or automatic renewal clauses in new or renewed agreements, as well as improving antitrust compliance systems, valid for five years. Looking back at the transaction process, Focus Media launched the acquisition in April 2025, planning to acquire 100 percent of Xinchao Media at a valuation of 8.3 billion yuan. In March 2026, because some original transaction counterparties no longer participated, the plan was changed to acquiring 90.02 percent of shares through the issuance of shares and payment of cash, with the transaction consideration adjusted to approximately 7.794 billion yuan. In the first half of 2026, Focus Media achieved revenue of 5.991 billion yuan, down 1.98 percent year on year, and net profit attributable to the parent company of 3.128 billion yuan, up 17.39 percent year on year.

Apple Cuts iPhone 18 Pro Component Orders by at Least 15%

Apple has instructed its suppliers to reduce component orders for the iPhone 18 Pro and iPhone 18 Pro Max by at least 15% for October, according to a Nikkei Asia supply-chain report covered by Reuters. The order reductions are estimated at between 15% and 20% versus original requests, as Apple grew more conservative on shipments following a cooler consumer reception for its newly launched flagship devices. The production pullback follows Apple's decision to raise iPhone 18 Pro prices by $100 to offset escalating DRAM and NAND memory chip expenses, which have surged as artificial intelligence infrastructure demands strain global memory supply. Reuters noted that Apple did not immediately respond to requests for comment and could not immediately verify the report. Apple shares fell 2.3% in the morning session on the news before recovering to $333.57, down 2.1% from the previous close.

UBS Says Apple App Store Revenue Grew 5% in September, Warns October Test Is Tougher

UBS says Apple's App Store revenue grew 5% year over year in September, an improvement from no growth in August, though analyst David Vogt, who rates Apple Neutral with a $296 price target, says it is too early to draw broader conclusions. For the full quarter, App Store revenue rose about 2%, marking a second consecutive quarter of low-single-digit growth and roughly 150 basis points slower than the prior quarter. October will be a more important test, with comparisons about 180 basis points tougher and the first full month of App Store changes in the EU, a region that accounts for just over 10% of trailing twelve-month App Store revenue. At 37.69x forward earnings, Apple trades at a roughly 28% premium to its 5-year average P/E of 29.54x, a valuation that requires stronger growth than low-single-digit App Store gains. Hedge fund interest was broadly stable, slipping from 170 funds at the end of Q1 2026 to 169 at the end of Q2 2026, while short interest stood at just 0.88% of float as of September 15, 2026.
AAPL · Demand · Negative UBS reports Apple App Store revenue grew only 5% in September and ~2% for the quarter, a second straight quarter of low-single-digit growth, with a tougher October ahead.
AAPL · Capital · Neutral UBS rates Apple Neutral with a $296 price target and notes the stock trades at a ~28% premium to its 5-year average P/E, requiring stronger growth.

Apple cuts iPhone 18 Pro component orders as demand softens

Apple has told its suppliers to cut back component production for the iPhone 18 Pro after demand reportedly slowed due to higher prices. According to Nikkei Asia, Apple reduced orders for October by roughly 15% to 20% versus initial estimates, and Apple stock declined more than 2.5% in early trade on Friday. Apple raised the price of its iPhone 18 Pro line by $100, to $1,199 for the iPhone 18 and $1,299 for the iPhone 18 Pro Max, and also increased prices on its various iPads and Macs, as the industry contends with a severe shortage of memory and storage chips driven by AI data center demand. Deepwater Asset Management managing partner Gene Munster said lead times have fallen 31% for the iPhone 18 Pro but risen 1% for the iPhone 18 Pro Max, leaving combined lead times roughly in line with last year's iPhone 17 Pro lineup, and warned the recent decline softens the case for measurable upside in the December quarter. Apple is also preparing to ship its $1,999 foldable iPhone Duo on Oct. 23, which could cannibalize iPhone 18 Pro sales; Munster expects first-year Duo units of close to 20 million, against current estimates of around 10 million.

Apple cuts iPhone 18 Pro component orders by at least 15% as demand weakens

Apple has told some suppliers to reduce production of components for the iPhone 18 Pro and iPhone 18 Pro Max after soaring memory chip costs and price increases began to weigh on consumer demand. Nikkei Asia reported today, October 9, citing multiple sources, that Apple cut component orders for October by at least 15% from what it had initially indicated. The report said demand for electronic devices has weakened from late August through October, though part of the decline may stem from a shift in the launch schedule for Apple's various iPhone models. Apple previously raised prices for the iPad and MacBook in June, saying it could no longer absorb rising memory and storage chip costs. In September, Apple unveiled the iPhone 18 Pro and iPhone 18 Pro Max alongside the foldable phone Duo. The iPhone 18 Pro starts at 1,199 dollars, while the Pro Max starts at 1,299 dollars, each 100 dollars higher than the starting price of the previous generation.

Apple Cuts iPhone 18 Pro Orders, SpaceX Eyes $8B Spectrum Deal

Apple has asked some suppliers to reduce component production for its iPhone 18 Pro and Pro Max models, with October component orders cut by at least 15% from initial requests and demand for both premium models reportedly down 15%-20%, according to Nikkei Asia. Higher memory chip costs and resulting price increases have weighed on consumer demand, potentially affecting suppliers including Taiwan Semiconductor Manufacturing, Qualcomm, and Broadcom. Separately, SpaceX is set to acquire a portfolio of low-band wireless spectrum licenses from private-equity firm Grain Management for approximately $8B in cash, The Wall Street Journal reported, in a deal covering up to 14 megahertz of paired spectrum in the 800 MHz band; shares of T-Mobile, Verizon, and AT&T fell about 6% in after-hours trading as investors assessed the competitive implications. Nvidia-backed Firmus Grid is discussing a private funding round of $2B-$3B after dropping plans for a roughly $5B IPO that would have valued the Australian data center company at $30B, Bloomberg reported, with Nvidia possibly participating. India criticized the Trump administration's suspension of the Permanent Labor Certification program, saying the decision conflicts with the shared ambitions of the two countries, after the U.S. suspended multiple companies from using the system as Vice President JD Vance called for technology companies to hire more American workers and alleged widespread fraud in the H-1B visa program. President Donald Trump purchased between $1M and $5M in SpaceX bonds on August 18, according to a financial disclosure released Thursday; the senior unsecured notes carry a 5.35% interest rate and mature in July 2031, and two days later Trump signed a national space transportation policy aimed at facilitating more than 1,000 U.S. launches and reentries annually by 2030.

Apple cuts iPhone 18 Pro component orders by 15%-20% for October, Nikkei reports

Apple has told some suppliers to cut production of components for its recently launched iPhone 18 Pro and Pro Max models, Nikkei Asia reported Friday, citing multiple people familiar with the matter. Component orders for October were cut by 15%-20% from what was originally expected, with the technology giant turning more conservative on shipments since early September. The cuts came amid weaker-than-expected market demand for the new iPhone line, as soaring memory chip and component prices forced price hikes and dented consumer demand. Nikkei also noted the weaker component demand could reflect Apple's changed launch schedule for the 18 series, with the premium line, the 18 Pro, Pro Max and iPhone Duo, launching first in September, while the base iPhone 18 and an upgraded iPhone Air are set for early 2027. The report highlighted growing headwinds for consumer electronics companies as rising component costs bite, with global memory and electronics supplies largely crimped by outsized demand from the artificial intelligence industry, and recent comments from memory chip major Micron suggesting the tightness was likely to persist well into 2027.
AAPL · Demand · Negative Apple cut iPhone 18 Pro component orders 15-20% for October amid weaker-than-expected demand for the new line.

Samsung Launches Galaxy Tab S12 Ultra and Tab S12+ With On-Device AI

Samsung Electronics launched the Galaxy Tab S12 Ultra and Tab S12+ on 9 October 2026, with the new tablets powered by the MediaTek Dimensity 9500 processor that MediaTek and Samsung co-developed for the series. Samsung confirmed Adobe Photoshop will come pre-installed on the Galaxy Tab S12 line, a first for Android tablets. The launch leans into two catalysts investors have been watching: whether AI-heavy devices and bundled creative tools can support higher average selling prices across Samsung's hardware portfolio, and the push to turn premium tablets into a more credible work device rather than just a media screen. The near-term proving ground is how the Galaxy Tab S12 line performs through its initial sales window following the 7 October retail release, with Samsung's next quarterly report and any disclosed segment data or commentary on tablet volumes and mix showing whether AI-focused premium features are translating into meaningful demand and revenue contribution.

Samsung Electronics Third-Quarter Operating Profit Expected to Surge 782.5%, Reinforcing Memory Supercycle Logic

Samsung Electronics released preliminary third-quarter 2026 earnings guidance on October 8, projecting consolidated operating profit of approximately 107.4 trillion Korean won, up about 782.5% year on year, with consolidated sales of roughly 195 trillion Korean won, up about 126.6%. Earlier, Micron Technology reported fourth-quarter fiscal 2026 revenue of 54.23 billion US dollars, up about 379% year on year, and guided next-quarter revenue to approximately 61.5 billion dollars. Guolian Minsheng Securities stressed that the memory industry is entering a supercycle, with AI server demand continuing to drive upgrades in HBM, DRAM, and enterprise SSD configurations, while supply-side constraints on advanced process capacity and long-term agreement lock-in mechanisms make the upward price trend clear. Leading manufacturers such as Micron have already locked in more than 35% of revenue through 2030 via long-term agreements and plan to boost shareholder returns. As a result, as of 14:11 on October 9, 2026, the STAR 50 ETF Ping An, ticker 589150, saw its underlying index, the SSE STAR 50 Index, ticker 000688, rise 0.23%, with constituents Amlogic up 5.84%, Transsion Holdings up 5.42%, Times Electric up 4.35%, Skyverse up 4.23%, and SJ Semiconductor up 4.05%.

AWS Transform Adds NetApp ONTAP Block Storage Migration to Amazon FSx

AWS Transform now enables migration of block storage data for NetApp Inc.'s unified data storage operating system, NetApp ONTAP, directly to Amazon FSx, allowing such migrations to run in the same wave as compute and network. NetApp executive Pravjit Tiwana said cloud migration projects often run longer and cost more than planned because customers must move applications, servers, networking, and storage separately, and that the combined offering simplifies the process, lowers migration risk, and helps customers reach AWS faster without changing how their applications operate. The integration broadens NetApp's total addressable market beyond its existing users and turns AWS migration projects into new cloud storage channels, though it also increases NetApp's reliance on AWS for distribution and adoption of this particular cloud service, exposing it to AWS pricing decisions and competing storage offerings. NetApp has delivered around 102% year-to-date return in 2026, more than fivefold the return of the broader S&P 500, with a market capitalization of approximately $45.39 billion, a trailing P/E of approximately 33.3x and a forward P/E of 23.7x. As per 13F filing data for Q2 2026, a total of 47 hedge funds held positions in the stock compared to 38 by the end of the first quarter, and BlackRock is the largest institutional investor with 18.9 million shares, representing 9.62% of outstanding shares.
NTAP · Demand · Positive AWS Transform integration lets NetApp ONTAP block storage migrate to Amazon FSx, broadening NetApp's addressable market and opening new cloud storage channels.

New Apple CEO John Ternus Shakes Up Device Launches, Trims Siri and Vision Pro

New Apple CEO John Ternus is restructuring how the company releases products, pushing for new devices throughout the year instead of concentrating them at spring and fall events, according to Bloomberg. Ternus, just over a month into the job, is also weighing cuts to layers of middle management so engineers work more closely with leadership, while Apple pulls back on projects it deems less essential, including Siri, Vision Pro, and some AI software teams. Bank of America analyst Wamsi Mohan still rates Apple a Buy with a $370 target and calls it an eventual winner of AI at the edge, but warns that iPhone owners increasingly turn to agents like Meta's Muse to shop and book, potentially shifting app-download and search-traffic value away from Apple. Apple's forward P/E stands at 37.78x, roughly 28% above its most recent historical average of 29.55x, while EPS growth is expected to slow from 18.38% in fiscal 2026 to 8.51% in 2027. Hedge funds held steady, with the number holding Apple slipping from 170 in Q1 to 169 in Q2 while their stakes rose from $107.5 billion to $124.8 billion.

Samsung and TSMC Post Record Results as AI Trade Demands More

Samsung projected a record third-quarter profit of $80 billion while Taiwan Semiconductor Manufacturing Company reported sales up 50% in the quarter using its latest September data, yet investors greeted both results with little enthusiasm. Samsung's operating profit rose nine-fold, driven by its chips and memory business, with revenue doubling for the quarter, while TSMC's quarterly revenue surged 51% year-over-year to $46.7 billion. eToro analyst Josh Gilbert noted that Samsung delivered a record profit and still fell short of expectations, a sign of how demanding the AI trade has become. The hosts compared the dynamic to Nvidia, which routinely posts blowout quarters yet often sees its stock trade down, and questioned whether the debt-fueled AI infrastructure buildout is hitting limits. Samsung shares are more than double this year, and the discussion noted that much of the good news may already be priced in, with some Wall Street strategists increasingly pointing to a possible slowdown in capital expenditure.

Samsung Q3 profit surges nearly ninefold as TSMC revenue grows 51%, but shares remain under pressure

Samsung Electronics reported third-quarter operating profit up nearly ninefold to 107.4 trillion won, or about 80.1 billion dollars, a record high, while revenue more than doubled. The figures still fell slightly short of the analyst average estimate. Taiwan Semiconductor Manufacturing Co., or TSMC, reported record third-quarter revenue of 1.49 trillion Taiwan dollars, or about 46.71 billion dollars, up 50% from a year earlier and above market expectations. LSEG SmartEstimate, which compiles estimates from 19 analysts, had forecast revenue of 1.46 trillion Taiwan dollars, compared with 989.92 billion Taiwan dollars a year earlier. Despite the record results, Samsung shares fell 2.4% in the South Korean stock market, and shares of suppliers in the Japanese market such as Tokyo Electron, Advantest and Ibiden also declined, amid concerns over how long AI investment reliant on rising debt financing can continue as global borrowing costs climb. Demand for high-bandwidth memory chips, or HBM, used with Nvidia Corp.'s AI accelerator chips has benefited Samsung, SK Hynix and Micron Technology. Counterpoint Research raised its forecast for third-quarter DRAM chip prices to a 10% to 20% rise from the previous quarter, up from 5% to 10%, after customers rushed orders. Analysts at Citigroup expect HBM4 chip prices to rise 100% to 150% next year, even though Citigroup cut its full-year profit estimates because of the stronger South Korean won. Analysts expect Samsung's chip business to post operating profit of 110 trillion won, with the company due to release full financial results on October 29.
