Flex Secures US$3.3b Term Loan Facility Tied to EPC Power Corp Acquisition

Flex has secured a new undrawn US$3.3b senior term loan facility with Citibank and other lenders, tied to its planned EPC Power Corp acquisition and subject to rating-based covenants. The facility lands as the company's share price momentum cools after a strong run, with a 1 day return of 4.44% and a 7 day return of 2.76% clawing back some ground after an 11.76% decline over the past 90 days. Longer term enthusiasm remains far stronger, with a year to date share price return of 88.18%, a 1 year total shareholder return of 111.75% and a 5 year total shareholder return above 7x. Flex last closed at $119.83, while the most followed valuation narrative pegs fair value at $130.26, implying the stock trades at a discount. The company is positioning itself as a higher-margin engineered-solutions partner across AI infrastructure, supply chain nearshoring and energy transition power management, though it faces risks if large AI infrastructure projects are delayed or if the CPI spin off fails to secure strong standalone investor support.

JEOL Launches HAXIS Ion-Milling SEM for Semiconductor Failure Analysis

JEOL Ltd. has launched HAXIS, a new low-angle ion-milling scanning electron microscope for semiconductor failure analysis that combines LIM delayering, SEM imaging, and passive voltage contrast to deliver clear, highly reproducible observations with reduced damage and contamination. By integrating argon-based low-angle ion milling with PVC-guided, layer-by-layer analysis, HAXIS aims to speed up quick-turnaround failure localization in advanced semiconductor devices. JEOL is targeting about 15 units in annual sales for HAXIS, a modest contribution against the company's much larger existing revenue base. The launch reinforces JEOL's relevance in advanced semiconductor failure analysis, though investors are still watching execution against FY2027 guidance, integration of prior launches like LazEdge and the JCM-7000Plus, and margin management after a weak Q1 2026. The Simply Wall St Community currently carries a single JEOL fair value estimate of ¥8,740.

Halo Microelectronics hit again by former employee's $3.5 million arbitration claim; two disputes in under a month total over RMB 70 million

Halo Microelectronics announced on the evening of October 9 that the company and its wholly owned subsidiary Halo Microelectronics International Corporation recently received arbitration application materials served by JAMS. The claimant, Darson Zhang, has filed a claim for $3.5 million, approximately RMB 23.456 million. The case has been accepted but has not yet gone to hearing. Darson Zhang previously worked at HMI and was granted stock options. He alleges that after his departure the company failed to cooperate in repatriating stock proceeds and exercising his remaining stock options, amounting to breach of contract, misappropriation of property, and wrongful termination. The claim involves approximately $1.75 million in withheld stock value and approximately $1.75 million in unexercised option value. He also requests that this case be consolidated with the arbitration Halo Microelectronics filed in November 2025 against Nam David Ingyun and others. Less than a month earlier, Halo Microelectronics disclosed a lawsuit brought by Nam David Ingyun, former CEO of a controlled subsidiary, on labor dispute grounds. He sought to exercise approximately 3.2576 million stock options, or otherwise claim RMB 48.4406 million in damages. The two lawsuits and arbitrations together involve claims totaling approximately RMB 71.8966 million. Halo Microelectronics said that in the first half of 2025 it discovered that the individuals involved were suspected of stealing trade secrets, breaching fiduciary duties, and engaging in unfair competition. It therefore suspended their vested but unexercised options and temporarily withheld cooperation on capital outflows. The company described this arbitration as a counterclaim and said it will actively defend itself. In addition, the South Korean controlled subsidiary Zinitix was designated as an administrative issue stock starting September 3 because its market capitalization fell below 20 billion Korean won for 30 consecutive trading days, putting it at risk of delisting. Its revenue in the first half of 2026 was RMB 82.8094 million, accounting for 15.66% of Halo Microelectronics' revenue in the same period, with related goodwill of RMB 64.2175 million. Halo Microelectronics' revenue in the first half of 2026 was RMB 529 million, up 13.35% year on year. Net profit attributable to the parent narrowed its loss by 32.02% year on year, but the company still posted a loss of RMB 30.3779 million.

BOE and OnePlus jointly launch next-generation OLED display to offset panel price decline pressure

On October 9, BOE and OnePlus jointly launched a next-generation OLED display to offset the profitability pressure caused by falling OLED panel prices. Zhou Hua, chief analyst at CINNO Research, believes the flexible OLED panel industry is currently under significant pressure. Rising storage costs are squeezing profit margins for smartphone makers, and combined with shrinking handset demand, the supply-demand imbalance has intensified, driving panel prices steadily downward. CINNO Research expects the price of a 6.7-inch flexible OLED panel to fall to 18 US dollars in the third quarter of 2026, a decline of 50 percent compared with the first quarter of 2023. BOE Chairman Chen Yanshun said at the online briefing on the 2026 interim results on September 22 that this year has been very difficult for the OLED panel business. The storage value alone in a single phone exceeds 3,000 yuan, and global smartphone sales this year are around 1.2 billion units, down nearly 12 percent from last year. BOE's OLED business is expected to maintain growth this year, but still faces considerable operating pressure. Data from Sigmaintell show that in the first half of 2026, global shipments of flexible OLED smartphone panels totaled 350 million units, up 15.6 percent year on year. Of that, shipments from mainland China were about 200 million units, up about 5.9 percent year on year. Samsung Display ranked first with about 120 million units, while BOE ranked second globally and first in China with 81.4 million units. Wang Xiaoya, research director of Sigmaintell's mobile business unit, said the growth in shipment scale has not yet translated into improved profitability. Domestic OLED panel makers generally face considerable operating pressure, and the industry is at a critical stage of transitioning from scale expansion to value enhancement. Samsung Display's OLED panel business is currently profitable, but China's OLED panel industry as a whole has not yet reached profitability. One of BOE's goals for 2026 is to substantially improve the profitability of its OLED panel business and strive to move toward break-even. Manufacturers such as Visionox, Tianma, and TCL CSOT are also seeking breakthroughs in high-value-added products.
000725.CS · Pricing · Negative Falling flexible OLED panel prices and supply-demand imbalance squeeze BOE's OLED profitability, prompting the joint display launch to offset margin pressure.
200725.CS · Pricing · Negative Same as BOE Technology Group: declining OLED panel prices pressure its panel business margins.
一加 · Technology · Neutral OnePlus co-launched the next-generation OLED display with BOE, but the article gives no clear positive/negative impact on OnePlus itself.
