Nvidia Nears Record High on Foxconn Results as Cerebras Jumps on Altman Comments

Nvidia is poised to open at a record high after Foxconn, also known as Hon Hai Precision, reported better-than-estimated numbers, with the strong results extrapolated through to the AI chipmaker. Renewed talk that Nvidia's valuation looks low, given its still-expanding earnings, is also helping the stock as the AI trade continues largely unabated. Separately, Morgan Stanley analyst Adam Jonas reiterated his overweight rating on SpaceX with a $300 price target, arguing the stock is cheap at its current level of 159 and implying roughly 100% upside, citing the difficulty of valuing its AI business by price per token and its rocket work such as heat shields, orbital re-entry, booster landings and hot staging. Cerebras rose 6% in premarket trading after OpenAI CEO Sam Altman called the company a close partner, saying the two are working together very, very closely.

Sharp begins taking AI server orders in Japan, with Foxconn manufacturing

Sharp Corp, the Japanese electronics company, said on September 15 that it has begun taking orders for artificial intelligence servers in Japan, with the servers manufactured by its Taiwan-based parent company Foxconn. Sharp plans to start selling the servers in fiscal 2027, which begins in April 2027, targeting local government bodies, research institutions and data center operators. The servers use the latest AI platform from Nvidia, the major US semiconductor company, while Foxconn handles procurement and manufacturing. Sharp aims for AI server business sales of about 250 billion yen, or 1.6 billion dollars, in fiscal 2030, driven by growing demand for AI use. It is also considering manufacturing servers in Japan and aims to expand the business into global markets in the future. Tetsuji Kawamura, chief executive officer of Sharp, said that as AI becomes more a part of social infrastructure, developing reliable computing infrastructure that many companies can use is important. Sharp forecasts the domestic server market will grow from about 900 billion yen in fiscal 2025 to roughly 4 trillion yen in fiscal 2030 and about 7 trillion yen in fiscal 2035. Sharp said it will consider joint manufacturing with Foxconn in the future, and if such joint production goes ahead, its Kameyama plant in Mie Prefecture in central Japan is one option that could serve as a production base.

Asian Stocks Set to Rise as Iran Tensions Lift Oil

Asian equities were positioned for a higher open Monday, while oil prices advanced as renewed fighting between the United States and Iran raised concerns about shipping disruptions and inflation. Futures indicated gains for Japanese and South Korean stocks, while Australian contracts were little changed. Brent crude rose about 0.5% after Iran said it had targeted three tankers traveling through the Strait of Hormuz without authorization, along with several U.S.-linked vessels. The attacks indicated that the six-month conflict involving Iran, the United States and Israel remained far from resolution. Investors are now turning to Friday’s U.S. consumer-price report after stronger-than-expected employment data increased expectations that the Fed could raise rates at its Sept. 16 meeting. In currency markets, the yen traded near 156 to the dollar after strengthening 2.4% last week. China announced plans to inject 300 billion yuan, or about $44.7 billion, in special-bond proceeds into major banks and insurers. Hon Hai Precision Industry reported a 52% increase in monthly sales as demand for AI infrastructure remained strong.

Foxconn Expects Q3 Results to Beat Market Forecasts on AI Demand

Taiwan's major electronics contract manufacturer, Foxconn (Hon Hai Precision Industry), said on the 5th that its third-quarter results are expected to beat market forecasts, supported by solid artificial intelligence (AI) related demand. In the second-quarter results announced last month, net profit rose 35% year-on-year, surpassing analyst expectations, driven by robust AI-related demand. In a statement, the company explained that in the third quarter, AI demand is expected to continue expanding, and information and communication technology (ICT) products are entering the busy season in the second half of the year, so performance will gradually gain momentum. Furthermore, the current outlook for the third quarter has improved compared to the previous month, and overall performance is expected to beat market expectations. Meanwhile, the company also noted the need to monitor the impact of unstable global political and economic conditions, but did not provide specific numerical forecasts. According to the company, revenue last month rose 51.98% year-on-year to NT$921.8 billion (US$29.15 billion), a record high for August, and exceeded NT$900 billion for the second consecutive month.

Poland unveils Economy 2.0 strategy to attract AI, EV, and chip investment after GDP tops 1 trillion dollars

Poland has announced a new economic strategy called Poland Economy 2.0 to move up from a cheap-labour base to a high-value-added economy, after GDP surpassed 1 trillion dollars and the country was invited to join the G20 summit later this year. The government wants to attract foreign direct investment in advanced technology industries including AI, electric vehicles, semiconductors, and critical metals such as copper. A key project reflecting this strategy is the plan by Lumina Metals, a Canadian metals company, to invest 6.4 billion dollars to develop a copper and silver mine in the town of Nowa Sól, which could become the largest FDI project in Poland's history and is expected to create 6,000 direct jobs in a town of only 36,000 people. Meanwhile, a Taiwanese company is considering developing a Technology Park on the site where Intel had planned to build a 4.6 billion dollar semiconductor plant before cancelling the project, and the new project could be worth as much as 20 billion dollars. Foxconn, the major Taiwanese electronics manufacturer, plans to produce electric vehicles in the southern Polish city of Jaworzno under a preliminary agreement under which Poland would receive knowledge and technology transfer. Finance Minister Andrzej Domański said the quality of investment matters more than its value, and a senior adviser at the Polish Economic Institute called this type of investment Poland 2.0 Investment, which would help the country escape its role as an assembly-plant base and build its own technological capabilities. However, Lumina's mining project still needs a mining licence, which could take about five years, and the company wants the government to cut copper taxes to make the project economically viable, while the Polish government is facing a record budget deficit.

Stifel Reiterates Buy on Nvidia Ahead of Earnings, Citing Foxconn and Super Micro Demand

Stifel analyst Ruben Roy reiterated a Buy rating on Nvidia with a $282 price target ahead of the company's August 26 earnings report, citing strong AI server demand signals from Foxconn and Super Micro. Foxconn reported second-quarter revenue of NT$2.53 trillion, up 41% year-over-year, with its cloud and networking segment crossing 50% of revenue for the first time and full-year AI rack shipments guided to more than double. Super Micro reported $11.1 billion in fiscal fourth-quarter revenue, nearly double from a year earlier, and guided first-quarter net sales between $14.5 billion and $15.5 billion, well above analyst expectations of $11.9 billion, while booking over $60 billion of new orders in a single quarter. Stifel expects Nvidia to beat estimates and raise guidance, though it flags gross margin guidance as the key metric to watch due to potential pressure from GB300 and Vera Rubin ramp expenses. Hedge fund ownership of Nvidia rose to 275 funds at the end of the first quarter of 2026, up from 264 in the prior quarter, while short interest remains limited at about 1.26% of the public float.

Global Markets Return to Risk-On Mode as AI Stocks Rebound on US-Iran Deal Hopes

Global financial markets turned positive as investors piled back into technology and artificial intelligence stocks, buoyed by hopes that the United States and Iran will reach a temporary agreement to reopen shipping through the Strait of Hormuz. S&P 500 futures edged up 0.2 percent, signaling a potential push to fresh record highs. Foxconn, a key supplier to Nvidia, reported July sales surged 54.2 percent to 946.5 billion Taiwan dollars, underscoring robust global demand for AI infrastructure. Still, some AI names faced headwinds. SpaceX tumbled more than 8 percent after unveiling plans to ramp up AI investment beyond market expectations, while AMD slid around 7 percent after issuing a weaker sales outlook. Brent crude oil prices recovered slightly to near 80 dollars a barrel, having slumped more than 5 percent the previous day. Easing Middle East tensions helped alleviate inflation pressures, prompting investors to scale back bets on further interest rate hikes by the Federal Reserve. US Treasury yields declined, while gold prices climbed more than 2 percent to around 4,160 dollars an ounce. Overall, global markets have swung back into risk-on mode, driven by confidence in AI growth and hopes for a de-escalation of the US-Iran conflict.

Consumer electronics sector rises 3.18% intraday as August new product launch season kicks off

On August 5, the consumer electronics sector rose 3.18% intraday, with Zhidongli up 20.00%, Boshuo Technology up 15.52%, Universal Scientific Industrial up 10.00%, Litong Electronics up 10.00%, and Bird shares up 9.92%. According to Shanghai Securities News, as August begins, the consumer electronics market enters a new product launch season, driven primarily by Apple's next-generation products. The entire Apple supply chain is accelerating recruitment, with leading contract manufacturers like Foxconn continuously expanding engineering positions. Companies such as Lens Technology and Jingyan Technology have already entered critical stages of research and development, capacity expansion, and mass production delivery. A research report from Wanlian Securities noted that in the first quarter of 2026, the consumer electronics sector's revenue grew 33.65% year-on-year, and net profit attributable to the parent company rose 44.40% year-on-year. However, performance within the sector diverged significantly, with companies closely tied to AI computing power performing better, while those with a larger share of consumer electronics main business still face cost pressures. Looking ahead, as major companies launch new products and AI-enabled terminals continue to gain traction, replacement demand is expected to be stimulated. A research report from Guojin Securities pointed out that the 3C accessories industry continues to tap growth potential through new material applications and functional innovations. Relevant new regulations are expected to be implemented in 2026, which will accelerate the exit of small and medium-sized players and promote industry consolidation.

Wall Street Futures Rise Ahead of ISM Services Data as OPEC+ Boosts Oil Output

U.S. equity futures moved modestly higher on Monday as investors returned from the Independence Day holiday, with Dow futures broadly unchanged, S&P 500 futures gaining 0.3%, and Nasdaq 100 futures rising 0.9%. Markets are focused on the Institute for Supply Management's June services PMI, expected to ease slightly to 54.2 from 54.5 in May, with any reading above 50 signaling continued expansion in the sector that accounts for more than two-thirds of U.S. economic activity. Oil prices edged lower after OPEC+ agreed to raise crude production targets by a further 188,000 barrels per day from August, with Brent crude slipping around 0.4% to $71.86 a barrel and U.S. West Texas Intermediate falling approximately 0.2% to $68.63. Spot gold declined as the U.S. dollar strengthened, reducing demand for the precious metal, after gold had benefited from weaker U.S. payroll figures that scaled back expectations of additional Federal Reserve rate increases. Foxconn reported a 39.8% year-on-year increase in second-quarter revenue to T$2.513 trillion, exceeding market expectations, driven by strong demand for artificial intelligence infrastructure.

Nvidia starts European manufacturing of Vera Rubin NVL72 with Bull and Foxconn

Nvidia has begun European manufacturing of its Vera Rubin NVL72 AI platform in partnership with Bull and Foxconn. The companies will design, build, and validate AI servers and data center systems within Europe, aiming to localize advanced AI infrastructure production and strengthen the region's AI supply chain. Foxconn will produce and test systems in the Czech Republic, while Bull will complete assembly and validation in France. The move ties Nvidia's rack-scale AI platform to a 'made in Europe' supply chain, which can appeal to customers concerned with data residency, export rules, and local content. This regional manufacturing effort supports Nvidia's strategy of supplying full-stack AI infrastructure for data centers, not just GPUs, and could broaden its customer base beyond US hyperscalers into sovereign and regional AI projects.

Intel stock gains premarket after 18A-P chip process enters early production

Intel shares rose about 4.5% in premarket trading Wednesday after the company announced its next-generation 18A-P manufacturing process has reached the risk production stage, a critical step before full-scale manufacturing begins. The move signals Intel is sticking to its manufacturing roadmap, which the company hopes will reassure outside customers considering its foundry services. Intel said 18A-P offers a 9% performance boost over the original 18A node at the same power level, or an 18% reduction in power consumption at equivalent processing speeds, along with improvements to thermal management and design flexibility. The announcement comes amid a surge in demand for Intel's processors from companies building AI infrastructure, with demand strong enough in the first quarter that Intel sold chips it had previously written off. Earlier this month, Intel struck a partnership with Foxconn to develop server racks combining Intel's CPUs with its AI accelerator architecture, targeting applications in robotics, autonomous vehicles, smart cities, and manufacturing.
