Every company sits on a mountain of data — sales, customers, inventory, every click on the website. But raw data is like raw material piled up in a warehouse with no shelves: you can't actually use it. A "Data Platform" is the place where all that data comes together, gets organized, and can be queried fast enough to drive decisions. And right now it matters ten times more than it used to — because for AI to get smart about your business, it has to feed on your company's data — the data your rivals don't have. That's why this has become a battlefield where Snowflake and Databricks fight it out at valuations in the hundreds of billions.

MongoDB CEO exit and Meta's enterprise push rattle data platform leadership MongoDB CEO CJ Desai abruptly left to run Meta's new enterprise platform, sending MongoDB shares down 16-25% and pressuring software peers. Meta's move into enterprise AI tools adds a deep-pocketed competitor. This is a talent and competition hit to the theme, though MongoDB reaffirmed guidance and analysts still see upside.
This is the period's biggest new event, directly hitting a key data platform company and signaling new competition from Meta.
China's financial support for AI and data infrastructure China's central bank and seven departments issued new guidelines to channel credit, bonds, and equity into AI software, high-quality industry datasets, and computing infrastructure. This broadens funding for data platforms and AI tools in China, supporting demand and supply for the theme.
It is a new policy catalyst that expands financial support for data infrastructure, a key demand driver for the theme.

New products and partnerships embed governed data deeper into AI workflows CData launched an AI gateway for governed agent access, Truepic brought verified media to Verisk's claims platform, Nokia and Microsoft expanded their telecom data partnership, and Supabase raised $150M and bought Turso. These moves make enterprise data more AI-ready and expand the theme's reach.
These are fresh product and funding developments that show the ecosystem broadening and maturing, a positive for the theme.
Snowflake's $3.75B convertible raise and Oracle's cloud shift highlight funding and margin trade-offs Snowflake raised $3.75B in zero-coupon convertible notes, a low-cost but potentially dilutive move. Oracle's multicloud database revenue jumped 353%, but its shift to pay-per-use cloud pricing pressures legacy software margins and requires heavy capital spending. Both show the theme's growth is real but increasingly costly to fund.
These capital and pricing moves show the cost side of AI data growth, a key counterweight to the positive demand story.

Useful, which emphasizes four pillars: infrastructure, trustworthiness, workforce development and value creation from AI.
DE Ministry opens 3 online reporting channels linked to IDMP to handle disasters
The Ministry of Digital Economy and Society, or DE, has opened three main channels for online incident reporting: Jitasa Care, Traffy Fondue, and the Jaeng Rat system, aiming to reduce data duplication and speed up disaster management. All three channels connect to the Integrated Disaster Management Platform, or IDMP, developed by the DE Ministry through the Digital Government Development Agency, or DGA, and the Big Data Institute, or BDI, together with the Department of Disaster Prevention and Mitigation under the Ministry of Interior. The platform links systems covering everything from disaster warnings and receiving reports of distress to mobilising rescue volunteers, evacuating people to shelters, and registering for compensation payments. Most of the systems are already operational, with only the disaster management and administration system still integrating data. Chaichanok Chidchob, Minister of Digital Economy and Society, said after attending a meeting of the National Disaster Prevention and Mitigation Command on 8 October 2026 that the ministry had assigned National Telecom Public Company Limited, or NT, and telecom operators to prepare primary communications systems, backup systems, and emergency systems in the southern region. NT and Thailand Post Company Limited were also told to prepare vehicles, high-lift trucks, and communications systems to support assistance for people nationwide. Arada Luengwilai, Deputy Director and Acting Director of the DGA, said the disaster warning system and the compensation registration system had already been used during the flood incident in Nan Province and in the current situation in Bangkok. The rescue volunteer system has more than 29,000 registrants nationwide and has been used in Nan Province and Sa Kaeo Province, where 554 volunteers registered and about 119 actually took part in operations. Professor Dr. Theeranee Achalakul, Director of the BDI, said the BDI developed a Data Hub system to link incident report data from multiple systems. It is currently connected to Traffy Fondue, Jitasa Care, and Jaeng Rat, and is in the process of connecting to the 1784 safety hotline of the Department of Disaster Prevention and Mitigation in order to gather data, verify it, and reduce duplication before producing standardised datasets and a Dashboard both during incidents and after relief operations.

JIG-SAW US Launches NEQTO.ai Autonomous Operations Platform
JIG-SAW US, Inc. launched NEQTO.ai, an autonomous operational intelligence platform that connects equipment and online services, interprets their data, and acts on it through rules customers define in advance. The Cincinnati-based company is supported by Tokyo-based JIG-SAW Inc., which has operated device infrastructure from Tokyo for 23 years, supports more than 1,200 client companies across its monitoring and operations business, and staffs three control centers. NEQTO.ai is built on a foundational AI layer rather than adding one on top, and it sits alongside the systems a customer already runs, reading what brokers, gateways, and control systems publish, so connecting equipment usually means changing where its data is sent rather than rewriting firmware or replacing controls. The platform closes the loop beyond notification: a defined condition triggers a command to equipment through an existing integration, following a rule a person set beforehand, and the same monitoring measures the result, while AI drafts device onboarding fields, alerts, widgets, dashboards, and integrations that only a person confirms are applied. NEQTO.ai is available today, with a free tier including 500 AI action credits a month with unlimited devices and users, and an Enterprise tier offering custom pricing for on-premises or custom deployments, including connection design, validation support, and a dedicated contact.

Insight Partners Launches First Forward Deployed Engineering Council
Insight Partners, the New York venture capital and private equity firm, is launching the industry's first forward deployed engineering council, with members drawn from Microsoft, Data Bricks, SAP, Service now, Anthropic, Wonderful, one of its own portfolio companies, and others. Operating Partner Pablo Dominguez announced the initiative on Bloomberg Tech, saying the council will share best practices with Insight's portfolio companies and the wider industry. Dominguez cited an IDC report finding that 88% of all AI implementations have not gotten past the POC stage, and said the top five platform companies spent over 9.5 billion dollars this year building their own forward deployed engineering teams. He said the firm sees forward deployed engineers as a way to expand a company's total addressable market rather than add a layer of cost, because the engineers embed with customers and feed each implementation back into the product. Insight Partners, which has backed over 600 companies in its 30 years investing in tech and AI software, will also hold its Scale Up AI conference in New York, with leaders from Anthropic and the CRO president of Data Bricks discussing how that company scaled from 0 to 7 billion.

Oracle is repositioning its database business around cloud consumption, raising the question of whether its historically lucrative database franchise can sustain margins as delivery shifts from licenses to usage. Oracle made Exadata Database Service on Exascale Infrastructure generally available on Oracle AI Database@AWS with pay-per-use pricing, and signed an expanded long-term collaboration agreement with Amazon Web Services to accelerate customer migrations, with the service now spanning 22 AWS Regions. In first-quarter fiscal 2027 results, multicloud database revenues surged 353% year over year, multicloud customers rose 180%, and Oracle completed its planned expansion across Azure and AWS, reaching 70 multicloud database regions. The shift carries margin trade-offs: software revenues, home to legacy license and support streams, declined 3% to $5.5 billion as customers migrated on-premise workloads to the cloud, while pay-per-use pricing lowers entry price points and partner-hosted deployments add capital intensity. Consolidated profitability has held firm so far, with total revenues up 30% to $19.3 billion, non-GAAP operating income up 31% to $8.2 billion, implying a margin of about 42%, and GAAP operating income up 57% to $6.7 billion, though capital expenditures reached $28.5 billion, leaving free cash flow at negative $5 billion, and Oracle expects to raise about $40 billion through debt and equity in fiscal 2027. For the second quarter, Oracle projects revenue growth of 30-34%, cloud revenue growth of 65-71% and non-GAAP EPS of $1.85-$1.93, while for fiscal 2027 it expects revenues of at least $90 billion and non-GAAP EPS of $8.10, supported by remaining performance obligations of $664 billion.

NTT DOCOMO BUSINESS Migrates Database Platform to Oracle Cloud, Cuts License Costs 43 Percent
NTT DOCOMO BUSINESS, Inc., formerly NTT Communications Corporation, has migrated its shared internal Oracle-based database platform to Oracle Autonomous AI Database on Oracle Cloud Infrastructure, moving tens of terabytes of data off its on-premises environment and cutting database license costs by 43 percent. The shared platform hosts critical internal systems including network management, security, and service operations, and currently supports 12 critical internal systems connected to approximately 400 servers. Akihiro Ito, senior vice president of the Integrated Service Operations Division at NTT DOCOMO BUSINESS, said the flexible consumption model delivered the 43 percent license-cost reduction versus on-premises, while automation of patching, backups, and routine maintenance has significantly reduced day-to-day administrative work. To strengthen business continuity, the company implemented a disaster recovery architecture across two Oracle Cloud regions in Japan, which it says supports stable operations and faster recovery from disruptions. The company added that automated backups, patching, and maintenance have cut the time and effort needed to address security vulnerabilities and enabled faster responses to AI-enabled cyberattacks and emerging vulnerabilities.

MongoDB Interim CEO Ittycheria Says No Rush to Name Successor After Desai's Meta Exit
MongoDB interim president and CEO Dev Ittycheria said the company is not in a rush to find a permanent successor to Chirantan "CJ" Desai, who left after roughly 11 months to lead a new AI platform for enterprise customers at Meta Platforms. Speaking on Bloomberg The Close, Ittycheria said Desai's departure was not anticipated but that the business is on solid footing, and he attributed the move to a very lucrative financial offer from Meta rather than any issue at MongoDB. At the company's investor day, MongoDB raised its long-term revenue growth guide from high teens to 20 plus percent, lifted its Atlas guidance from 20% to the mid 20s, and committed to double-digit growth in its EA business, which it said it had not seen in the last couple of years. Ittycheria also pointed to strong guidance for profitability and cash flow, citing secular AI tailwinds, and said MongoDB's newest version Alice 9.0 and a new capability called Alice Infinite push the envelope of elasticity and scale for agentic workloads. He added that MongoDB expects to be a net beneficiary as customers move brittle, expensive legacy applications to modern platforms, and that buying behavior has shifted as customers weigh IP protection, data residency, choice and cost.

DA Davidson Keeps Buy on MongoDB After CEO Exit, $465 Target
DA Davidson analyst Rudy Kessinger maintained a Buy rating and $465 price target on MongoDB, implying more than 38% upside, after CEO Chirantan CJ Desai departed to join Meta Platforms as chief enterprise platform officer. Kessinger called the departure very disappointing, citing Desai's role in strengthening MongoDB's relationships with large enterprise customers and winning bigger, longer-duration deals. MongoDB has brought back longtime executive Dev Ittycheria as interim CEO while the board searches for a permanent successor; Ittycheria previously led the company from 2014 through 2025. Bank of America analyst Koji Ikeda said the timing was clearly negative and complicates the setup, but kept a Buy rating and $540 price target, implying more than 60% upside, arguing Ittycheria could provide more stability than a typical interim CEO. The transition comes just ahead of MongoDB's Investor Day in New York City, where management is expected to lay out its growth strategy and longer-term priorities.

IT Operations Analytics Market to Rebound from $23.43 Billion in 2026 to $30.13 Billion by 2030
The global IT operations analytics market is projected to decline from $24.53 billion in 2025 to $23.43 billion in 2026, a compound annual growth rate of -4.5%, before rebounding to $30.13 billion by 2030 at a 6.5% CAGR from 2026, according to the IT Operations Analytics Market Report 2026 added to ResearchAndMarkets.com. The near-term contraction reflects high implementation and integration costs, the complexity of managing heterogeneous IT environments, and a shortage of professionals with advanced analytics expertise. Growth through 2030 is expected to be driven by the integration of artificial intelligence and machine learning into analytics platforms, rising adoption of hybrid IT environments, demand for automated incident management, and a focus on IT performance optimization. In April 2023, PagerDuty Inc. introduced PagerDuty AIOps, an automation solution spanning event ingestion through auto-remediation, and in May 2023 Hewlett Packard Enterprise completed its acquisition of OpsRamp Inc. for $4.5 billion to combine OpsRamp's hybrid digital operations management with HPE's edge-to-cloud platform. CData Launches Connect AI Gateway for Governed Enterprise AI Agents
CData Software launched CData Connect AI Gateway, a new control point connecting AI agents and the people who work with them to enterprise systems, available through an early access program beginning September 29, 2026. The Gateway is built on CData's data layer, which already powers Palantir, Google, hundreds of enterprise products and thousands of customers worldwide, and it exposes hundreds of CData-built connectors as governed tools over live systems including SAP, NetSuite, Salesforce, warehouses, databases, and on-premises and legacy environments. It enforces permissions down to the record, validates changes against each system's own business rules before they commit, and routes every request to the most efficient model, with spend attributed and budgeted by team, agent, model and tool. In CData Labs research, prompts run through CData's connectors returned correct results 98.5 percent of the time across CRM, project management, data warehouse and ERP systems, against 65 to 75 percent for competing MCP approaches, and a second study of 22 models found the least expensive returned the same correct answer at 178 times lower cost than the most expensive. Adobe AI Software Lead Padmakar Pasala said CData Connect AI gave its agents live, governed access to applications like SAP, cutting test delivery from 10 weeks of manual effort to about one, a 10x acceleration. CEO and co-founder Amit Sharma said the Gateway answers questions of control from one control point, letting companies hand agents real responsibility and stand behind every answer and every action.

Snowflake Raises US$3.75 Billion in Zero-Coupon Convertible Notes
Snowflake completed private offerings of zero-coupon, senior unsecured convertible notes totaling US$3.75 billion in late September 2026, split between maturities in 2029 and 2031 under Rule 144A. Alongside the financing, Liquibase announced the availability of Liquibase Secure on Snowflake Marketplace, a third-party tool that helps customers automate and govern data-related changes. The zero-interest convertible raise is seen mainly as affecting near-term debate around dilution and balance sheet risk rather than Snowflake's core thesis, while the Liquibase launch reinforces the company's push to sit at the center of governed, auditable data change. Snowflake's narrative projects $11.9 billion in revenue and $202.2 million in earnings by 2029, with a fair value estimate of $425.19, a 30% upside to its current price. Some of the lowest-estimate analysts assume about 23 percent annual revenue growth but no profits within three years, a picture that could shift if the fresh zero-coupon debt and potential dilution reshape expectations.
ClickHouse Expands Microsoft Collaboration With Fabric Workload and OneLake Integration
ClickHouse announced a significant expansion of its strategic collaboration with Microsoft at The European Microsoft Fabric + SQL Community Conference in Barcelona, Spain, encompassing four major milestones. The company launched a native ClickHouse workload for Microsoft Fabric, now in public preview through the Fabric workload hub, which brings the ClickHouse query engine directly into the Fabric experience and accelerates OneLake queries to sub-second response times. ClickHouse support for reading Apache Iceberg tables from OneLake using OneLake Table APIs is now generally available, while support for writing Iceberg tables to OneLake with credential vending is in public preview. ClickHouse Bring Your Own Cloud is now available to Azure customers through the Microsoft Marketplace, letting organizations run ClickHouse Cloud inside their own Azure tenant while ClickHouse manages provisioning, upgrades, monitoring, and scaling. Yury Izrailevsky, President of Product and Engineering at ClickHouse, said the engineering teams worked closely together so these capabilities are seamlessly integrated into the Microsoft data platform rather than layered on top of it, and Dipti Borkar, Vice President of Microsoft IQ and OneLake at Microsoft, said joint customers have more best-in-class analytical engines to choose from without moving or copying data between platforms.

Atlan Launches Generally Available Microsoft Fabric Connector With OneLake Interoperability
Atlan announced the general availability of its Microsoft Fabric connector, including new OneLake interoperability for its Iceberg-native Context Lakehouse, at FabCon Europe in Barcelona. The connector, with version 2.0 shipped in August 2026, catalogs Fabric workspaces, lakehouses, warehouses, semantic models, reports, dashboards, dataflows, and data pipelines down to the table and column level, and extracts end-to-end lineage from upstream external SQL sources through semantic models to reports and visuals. Through the OneLake integration, Atlan's context tables are stored natively in Apache Iceberg in open tables the customer owns in OneLake, so that context can be queried directly from Microsoft Fabric rather than copied into another store. Atlan said it is also designing an integration to bring unstructured content from across Microsoft's ecosystem into its enterprise context layer, and is working toward a one-click integration between OneLake and its Context Lakehouse. The connector is generally available to Atlan customers today, and Atlan is available in the Microsoft Marketplace and is Microsoft Azure co-sell eligible.

Daivio Launches AI Data Analysis Workload for Microsoft Fabric
DATA AI ANALYSIS LTD announced that Daivio, its AI analyst for Microsoft Fabric, is now available as a workload in the Microsoft Fabric Workload Hub and as a SaaS offer on Microsoft Marketplace. The launch coincides with the European Microsoft Fabric + SQL Community Conference in Barcelona, running 28 September to 1 October 2026. Daivio runs as an item inside the Fabric workspace, letting analysts sign in with existing Microsoft Entra ID credentials and work with data already in Microsoft OneLake, from a Lakehouse file, Delta table, Warehouse or SQL database, without exporting it. Users get AI-assisted profiling, eighteen one-click cleaning transformations, plain-language questions answered with the SQL, result table and chart, plus a SQL playground, Jupyter notebooks and Save to Lakehouse. Chief Executive Officer Drar Amreh said analysts previously lacked a way to get from a messy file to a defensible answer without leaving the workspace, while Chief Technology Officer Ashutosh Mishra said Daivio was built on the Fabric Extensibility Toolkit so every answer comes with the SQL and notebook behind it. A Free plan is available, the Pro plan is billed per minute of active processing with no monthly fee, and an Enterprise plan is billed through Microsoft Marketplace.

Snowflake plans a private offering of US$3.5b in 0.00% Convertible Senior Notes due 2029 and 2031, to be sold to qualified institutional buyers in two series. The company intends to use the proceeds for note repurchases, potential investments, and capped call transactions that may limit share dilution. The zero coupon structure gives Snowflake extra capital without adding ongoing interest expense, a consideration for a business still working toward sustained profitability. The other side of the trade is future dilution risk if the converts are ultimately exchanged into equity, especially with analysts already expecting shares outstanding to climb. Snowflake runs a cloud-based data platform used by organizations that store, process, and share large volumes of information across different clouds, and competes with Microsoft, Amazon and Google.
