Flood relief hits NIM, but brokers see KBANK as top pick on Q3 profit growth

  • Flood relief measures pressure NIM, but KBANK less exposed Banks rolled out flood relief for borrowers, including payment holidays and special rates, which hurts net interest margins. KBANK fell 4% on the news, but retail loans are only 10% of its book, less than KTB's 40%. Brokers call the selloff a buying opportunity.

This is the main new negative force this period, directly explaining the price drop and why brokers still recommend buying.

  • Q3 profit expected to grow 5% YoY, beating sector Bualuang expects KBANK's Q3 core profit to rise 5% from a year earlier, while the sector's total net profit falls 9-11%. Lower provisioning and growing fee income, especially wealth management, support earnings. This positive earnings outlook pushes the stock up.

This is new, specific good news for KBANK's earnings that contrasts with the sector's decline and supports the stock.

  • Brokers name KBANK a top pick for Q4 and 2027 recovery Krungsri, InnovestX, CGSI, Tisco and others pick KBANK as a top bank stock, citing the end of rate cuts, a new investment cycle, and attractive dividends. They see loans growing and profits recovering in 2027, which draws buyers.

Multiple new analyst recommendations this period reinforce the positive case and influence investor demand.

  • Political risk eases and fiscal spending boosts loan demand A court ruling removed fears of election annulment, reducing political risk. Also, the government spent 96% of its fiscal 2026 budget, which should revive corporate lending and private investment. KBANK benefits from these tailwinds.

These are new macro developments that improve the environment for banks and support KBANK's loan growth.

ASL Securities expects Q3/26 earnings for 9 banks to be flat QoQ but down 10% YoY

ASL Securities estimates the combined net profit of nine banks in the third quarter of 2026 at 64.921 billion baht, flat from the previous quarter but down 9.8% from a year earlier, pressured by lower net interest income as net interest margins narrow, alongside still-limited loan growth and slowing non-interest income, particularly investment gains and trading gains. Meanwhile, funding costs are beginning to ease as deposits reprice, and gradually declining credit costs are helping to support results. For the first nine months of 2026, combined net profit is expected to total 196.52 billion baht, down 4% from a year earlier. Mid-sized and smaller banks are likely to show standout growth, with KKP forecast to post net profit of 2.1 billion baht, up 26% YoY, the highest in the group, while CREDIT is expected to report net profit of 1.16 billion baht, up 17% QoQ, the strongest sequential gain in the group. KTB and BBL are expected to see profit recover 5% and 7% QoQ respectively, while KBANK and SCB continue to face pressure from slowing net interest income and non-interest income. For the fourth quarter of 2026, group earnings are expected to slow QoQ on seasonally higher operating expenses and asset-quality risks, particularly the impact of flooding on retail, SME and hire-purchase loans, which may prompt some banks to increase management overlay provisions. On valuation, bank stocks remain attractive, trading at an average 2026 price-to-book value of 1.1 times, with an average dividend yield of 5.5% expected, against an average return on equity of 10.5%. With group net profit forecast to grow 3.8% in 2026 and 2.3% in 2027, the investment strategy should focus on banks with outstanding earnings growth, strong asset quality and the potential to boost shareholder returns through dividends or capital management, especially banks trading below one times price-to-book value.
SCB.BK · Capital · Negative SCB is named among banks continuing to face pressure from slowing net interest income and non-interest income, weighing on Q3/26 earnings.
CREDIT.BK · Capital · Positive CREDIT forecast to post net profit of 1.16 billion baht, up 17% QoQ, the strongest sequential gain in the group.
KKP.BK · Capital · Positive KKP forecast to post net profit of 2.1 billion baht, up 26% YoY, the highest growth in the group.
BBL.BK · Capital · Neutral BBL expected to see profit recover 7% QoQ, but group earnings flat QoQ and down ~10% YoY on margin pressure.
KBANK.BK · Capital · Negative KBANK continues to face pressure from slowing net interest income and non-interest income.

Land and Houses recommends trading 7 NVDR-accumulated stocks to cope with volatile fund flows

Land and Houses Securities Public Company Limited, or LHSEC, assesses that foreign capital is still flowing out of the Thai stock market, with foreign investors net selling Thai shares on the SET and mai combined by approximately 33.8 billion baht between 1 September and 7 October 2026, split into 26.3 billion baht in September and 7.46 billion baht during 1–7 October. Meanwhile, the SET Index fell from 1,595.16 points to 1,584.63 points, a decline of only 0.66%, but returns in US dollar terms were negative by about 2.0% because of the weaker baht. Pressure came from the US 10-year bond yield, which rose from 4.75% to 5.29%, or 54 basis points, and the Dollar Index, which moved from 99.43 points to 101.45 points, strengthening by about 2%. Data from the Institute of International Finance, or IIF, indicates that foreign capital flowed out of emerging markets by about 26.3 billion US dollars in September, after a net inflow of 11.4 billion US dollars the previous month. As for trading through NVDR in common stocks, there was net selling of about 17.9 billion baht in September before flipping back to net buying of about 4.58 billion baht during 1–7 October, leaving cumulative net selling at about 13.3 billion baht. From NVDR Trading data over 27 trading days, 296 securities recorded total net buying of about 19.8 billion baht, while another 487 recorded total net selling of about 33.2 billion baht. The top nine stocks receiving the strongest net buying drew combined purchases of about 16.3 billion baht, or 82.1% of total net buying among the securities with positive net buying. LHSEC therefore recommends trading seven stocks that have seen accumulated buying through NVDR against the overall foreign capital picture: KBANK, TRUE, BCP, PTTGC, CPALL, SPRC and KCE, with weight given to the continuity of buying and changes in NVDR holding status. It also warns investors to be cautious about trading, since high net buying may stem from large transactions on certain days, and bond yields and the Dollar Index remaining at high levels could limit the Thai stock market's short-term recovery prospects.
CPALL.BK · · Neutral Named among seven NVDR-accumulated stocks recommended for trading amid foreign outflows; no company-specific development.
KBANK.BK · · Neutral Listed as one of the seven NVDR-accumulated stocks LHSEC recommends trading; no company-specific news.

Yuanta sees Thailand hosting IMF–World Bank meetings as a boost for SET Outperform, names stocks across 4 themes

Yuanta Securities (Thailand) assesses that Thailand's hosting of the IMF–World Bank Annual Meetings 2026, to be held from 12-18 October 2026 at the Queen Sirikit National Convention Center, will be a positive factor for the Thai stock market. It marks Thailand's return as host after 35 years, having last hosted in 1991, and more than 15,000 participants from 191 countries are expected. Thailand is presenting the concept "A New Horizon for Thailand: Empowering People, Strengthening Readiness for Change," and will push four main issues: the transition to digital and AI, the role of middle-sized countries in a multipolar world, coping with climate change, and preparing the economy for an aging society. Yuanta's research team cites the case study of Indonesia, which hosted in 2018, finding that the JCI Index rose 2.8% in the one month after the meetings and outperformed MSCI EM, MSCI DM and MSCI ACWI, which delivered negative returns during that period. It therefore sees the SET Index as likely to outperform regional markets. The digital and AI theme is positive for SMT, HANA, CCET, AMATA, WHA, DITTO and SKY, while the middle-sized countries theme, aimed at supporting SMEs, is positive for KBANK, SCB, KTB, SAWAD and MTC. The climate theme is positive for GUNKUL, SSP, GULF, DITTO and TEAMG, and the aging society theme is positive for BDMS, BH, BCH and CHG. It also sees the tourism group benefiting directly from an acceleration in traveler numbers, namely AOT, THAI, BA, ERW, CENTEL, MINT and AWC, with several large concerts choosing to hold events in Thailand during November-December providing continued support.
BDMS.BK · Demand · Positive Named in the aging society theme as a beneficiary of Thailand's IMF-World Bank hosting, which Yuanta sees as positive for the SET.
BH.BK · Demand · Positive Named in the aging society theme as a beneficiary of Thailand's IMF-World Bank hosting, which Yuanta sees as positive for the SET.
CENTEL.BK · Demand · Positive Named in the tourism group benefiting directly from an acceleration in traveler numbers around the IMF-World Bank meetings and large concerts.
CHG.BK · Demand · Positive Named in the aging society theme as a beneficiary of Thailand's IMF-World Bank hosting, which Yuanta sees as positive for the SET.

KBANK champions Team of Thailand model to lift Thailand out of the middle-income trap by 2037

Kasikornbank, or KBANK, has unveiled its Team of Thailand concept, aimed at driving Thailand out of the middle-income trap in line with the World Bank's target framework by 2037. Chief Executive Officer Kattiya Indaravijaya said Thais currently earn an average of 7,690 US dollars per person per year, and this must rise by about 87% to more than 16,000 US dollars per person per year by 2037. Achieving that will require economic growth of no less than 5% per year, up from an average of just 2% over more than a decade, along with lifting productivity from 1.2% per year to 3.7% per year, a threefold increase, and raising capital market and credit growth from 3% to 4%. The Team of Thailand concept divides roles into a forward line, the business and private sector, driving through seven future industries; a midfield, the financial institutions that allocate capital; and a back line, the government, which adjusts infrastructure and regulations. It also sets national indicators to shift from K-shaped growth to inclusive growth. Kattiya added that the economic damage from the recent flooding was significantly lower than that of the 2011 great flood, so there is no need to set aside additional risk provisions in the third and fourth quarters. The main affected group is retail lending, such as home and auto loans, rather than the business sector, while non-performing loans have shown no significant upward signal, and the bank will continue with its 3+1 strategy and Customer Strategy.
KBANK.BK · Capital · Neutral KBANK unveils Team of Thailand plan and says flood damage is lower than 2011, so no extra Q3/Q4 provisions are needed, though retail lending is the main affected group.

Meanwhile, Thai Airways has made no progress in its search for a new CEO, with applicants saying they have only received an email confirming they passed qualification screening but have not yet been told the date for their vision presentations. AOT is set to sign two AOTGA contracts tomorrow, covering the ground services and the third cargo terminal projects, with a combined value of 67.3 billion baht over 25 years, starting operations in 2027. Tisco Securities sees Thai stocks entering a recovery phase, with listed-company profits in the second quarter of 2026 setting record highs in revenue, net profit and EBITDA, while valuations remain attractive. Excluding DELTA, the Thai stock market trades at a 12-month forward PER of just 11.8 times, and about 60% of Thai listed companies still trade below their book value. The Thai market also offers an average dividend yield of around 3.9%, higher than the regional average of about 3.4%. Apichat Poobanjerdkul, senior director of the strategic analysis department at Tisco Securities, said the Thai economy and stock market are entering a period of stronger fundamentals, driven by private-sector investment, the AI and data center investment cycle, and continued growth in electronic component exports. He added that there is also long-term upside from large-scale infrastructure investment, especially the PDP 2026 power development plan, which is expected to involve investment worth as much as 2 to 3 trillion baht and is initially expected to add no less than 0.5% per year to GDP growth, making it the most important structural positive factor for Thailand in several decades. Tisco Securities assesses key support levels at 1,560 to 1,580 points and 1,540 points, with resistance at 1,610, 1,630 and 1,660 points respectively. CGSI expects Q3/2026 bank profits to shrink 9.2%, names KBANK as Top Pick

CGS International Securities (Thailand), or CGSI, estimates that the combined net profit of the eight banks covered by its analysts in the third quarter of 2026 will come to 57.4 billion baht, down 9.2% from the same period a year earlier but up 1.8% from the previous quarter. The decline is pressured by an overall commercial banking sector loan book that is trending toward slower expansion, based on monthly loan data from the Bank of Thailand for August 2026, which showed that large corporate customers of Bangkok Bank, or BBL, and Kiatnakin Phatra Bank, or KKP, made substantial debt repayments. As a result, the combined loans of the banks covered by the analysts fell 0.1% in August from the previous month, though they still grew 3.0% from the same period a year earlier and are up 2.4% since the start of the year. The banks still posting positive loan growth are led by Thai Credit Bank, or CREDIT, Krung Thai Bank, or KTB, and Tisco Financial Group, or TISCO. Pre-provision operating profit is expected to fall 6.8% from the same period a year earlier but rise 1.7% from the previous quarter, while the net interest margin is expected at 2.89% and the non-performing loan ratio at 3.66%. Breaking it down bank by bank, KKP is expected to post the strongest performance, with net profit growing as much as 32.2% from the same period a year earlier, followed by TMBThanachart Bank, or TTB, whose net profit is expected to grow 4.6% from the same period a year earlier. On the other hand, BBL is expected to post the weakest results, with net profit down 24.5% from the same period a year earlier, followed by KTB, whose net profit is expected to fall 16% from the same period a year earlier. On investment strategy, CGSI recommends maintaining a Neutral weighting and selects Kasikornbank, or KBANK, as its Top Pick for the sector, given that fee income from wealth management accounted for as much as 18% of its non-interest income in 2025, and it expects a dividend yield of as much as 6.2% in 2026, beating the sector average of 5.6%.
BBL.BK · Capital · Negative BBL expected to post the weakest results with net profit down 24.5% YoY, pressured by large corporate debt repayments.
KBANK.BK · Capital · Positive CGSI selects Kasikornbank as its Top Pick with a Neutral sector weighting.

4 brokerages expect Q3/2026 bank group profits to slow to 49,400-54,980 million baht

Four leading brokerages estimate that the combined net profit of seven commercial banks in the third quarter of 2026 will slow compared with a year earlier and hold steady to edge down from the previous quarter, with combined net profit expected at around 49,400 to 54,980 million baht, according to Yuanta Securities (Thailand), Bualuang Securities, Finansia Syrus Securities, and Kasikorn Securities. The main pressures come from net interest margins narrowing along the rate-cutting cycle, lower investment and FVTPL gains from a high base a year earlier, and still-limited growth in retail and SME loans. These are partly offset by lighter provisioning after many banks front-loaded reserves in the first half, a steady average non-performing loan ratio of about 3.5%, and fee income beginning to recover on wealth management and capital markets business. For the fourth-quarter outlook, the brokerages see the overall picture weakening further both year on year and quarter on quarter, possibly marking the year's low, while for the full year 2026 they expect the bank group's combined net profit to fall about 3.5% to 5.3% before returning to roughly 5% growth in 2027. On top picks, Yuanta chose KKP with a target price of 130 baht, Bualuang chose KKP, TISCO, BBL, KBANK and TTB, Finansia Syrus chose BBL with a target price of 240 baht and KTB with a target price of 47.30 baht, while Kasikorn chose KTB and KKP, raising their target prices by 1% to 3%.
KKP.BK · Capital · Positive KKP is a top pick for both Yuanta (130 baht target) and Kasikorn Securities, which raised its target price.
KTB.BK · Capital · Positive Finansia Syrus picks KTB with a 47.30 baht target and Kasikorn Securities also selects KTB while raising target prices.
BBL.BK · Capital · Neutral Bualuang and Finansia Syrus name BBL a top pick with a 240 baht target, but the group's Q3/2026 profits are seen slowing on margin pressure.
KBANK.BK · Capital · Neutral Bualuang lists KBANK among top picks, yet the bank group's Q3/2026 net profit is expected to slow on narrowing NIMs and lower FVTPL gains.
TTB.BK · Capital · Negative Brokerages expect the bank group's Q3/2026 combined net profit to slow on narrowing net interest margins and lower investment/FVTPL gains, with TTB named among Bualuang's top picks.
TISCO.BK · Capital · Positive TISCO is named among Bualuang Securities' top picks for the bank group.

ASL Securities says fiscal 2026 budget disbursement beat target, boosting contractor and bank stocks

ASL Securities said budget disbursement for fiscal year 2026 came in better than target, with 3.62 trillion baht disbursed out of a total budget of 3.78 trillion baht, or 95.83%, above the 93% target and 4.58% higher than the same period a year earlier. This reflects improved efficiency in channeling state funds into the economy, with capital expenditure accelerating notably year on year. Capital spending disbursed reached 586 billion baht, or 75.07% of the 781 billion baht investment budget, up 8.63% year on year. Meanwhile, capital expenditure set aside for carry-over disbursement in fiscal year 2027 stood at 193 billion baht, or 24.75% of the capital expenditure budget, and the government has set a deadline to accelerate the creation of commitments for both carry-over and fiscal 2027 investment budgets within the second quarter of fiscal 2027. Given these factors, ASL Securities views this as positive sentiment for groups tied to public investment. It recommends the construction sector, namely CK and STECON, which benefit directly from accelerated public investment and disbursement, and the banking sector, namely KTB, BBL and KBANK, which benefit indirectly through increased liquidity flowing into the system and a recovery in loan demand. KTB stands out for its government customer base, while BBL and KBANK stand to gain from a recovery in corporate lending and the subsequent pickup in private investment.
CK.BK · Demand · Positive CK recommended as a construction firm benefiting directly from accelerated public investment and budget disbursement.
STECON.BK · Demand · Positive STECON recommended as a construction firm benefiting directly from accelerated public investment and disbursement.
KTB.BK · Demand · Positive KTB stands out for its government customer base, benefiting indirectly from increased liquidity and loan demand from budget disbursement.

K WEALTH, Kasikornbank, has launched the K-ALLROADS Series of funds, designed as a core portfolio for high-net-worth individual clients, diversifying investments across a wide range of global assets to cope with volatility and build long-term wealth growth. Dr. Triphon Phumiwasana, Chief Investment Officer of K WEALTH, said the concept of Prepare, Don't Predict shifts the focus from forecasting short-term market direction to building a disciplined and flexible portfolio, combining the expertise of KBank Private Banking with the knowledge of Lombard Odier, a private banking partner from Switzerland. Brokers see Thai stocks edging higher after weak US jobs data, recommend DELTA as top pick

Several brokers expect the Thai stock market to trade in positive territory today. Finansia Syrus Securities sees the SET Index in a range of 1,565-1,583 points, helped by US Nonfarm Payrolls for September 2026, which rose by 29,000, below economists' forecast of 84,000 and below the prior 12-month average of 45,000, while the unemployment rate came in at 4.2%, higher than expected. As a result, the market has cut the probability of an October rate hike to just 22%. CGS International (Thailand) sees a range of 1,560-1,585 points, and DAOL sees a range of 1,545-1,552 up to 1,600 points. The stock they all recommend is DELTA, with Finansia setting a 2027 target price of 290 baht and expecting third-quarter 2026 profit to accelerate to 8.3 billion baht and fourth-quarter 2026 profit momentum to reach 10 billion baht, lifting full-year 2026 profit to 32 billion baht. DAOL recommends bank stocks KTB, KBANK and KKP, along with data center and power plant theme stocks GPSC, BGRIM and ADVANC. Krungsri expects SET to recover and test 1,594-1,600 points, watching floods and US labor data

Krungsri Securities expects the Thai stock market to recover this week and test resistance at 1,594-1,600 points, with support at 1,556-1,547 points, after the market has already priced in part of the US central bank's rising interest rate cycle, limiting volatility from external factors. Meanwhile, the Conference Board's September 2026 survey on the difficulty of finding a job came in at its lowest level in five years, signaling that US labor data late last week will begin to slow and that the chance of a positive surprise beyond market expectations of 100,000 plus or minus is limited. On the domestic front, the market is closely monitoring the flood situation, but reservoir levels and late-season rainfall show no unusually severe signals, so the market is expected to recover if flood impacts remain within normal levels. Top picks this week are DELTA, which benefits most from the AI CAPEX cycle with a 2027 forecast target price of 320 baht; PTTGC, which has upside synergy from a petrochemical joint venture with SCC and a BB Consensus target price of 59 baht; and KBANK, whose share price has already reflected flood concerns with limited actual risk and a 2027 forecast target price of 300 baht. Last week's recommended stocks DELTA, AOT and AWC delivered an average return of negative 1.59%, still better than the SET Index, which fell 2.24%.
DELTA.BK · Demand · Positive Named top pick, benefiting most from the AI CAPEX cycle with a 2027 target price of 320 baht.
KBANK.BK · Capital · Positive Named top pick; share price already reflected flood concerns with limited actual risk and a 2027 target price of 300 baht.

Krungsri stays bullish on banking sector, picks KBANK and KTB as top stocks

Analysts at Krungsri Securities Public Company Limited maintain a BULLISH recommendation on the banking sector, expecting ROE in 2027 to rise from 2026 because the interest rate downcycle has ended, the cycle is returning, a new investment round is underway, and wealth management is growing. After share prices fell 2-8% between 25 and 30 September 2026, the market should have already priced in some of the negative factors from asset quality risk tied to the Bangkok flood situation and the risk from northern runoff. KBANK and KTB are chosen as Top Picks because they benefit most from this investment theme. For the third quarter of 2026, net profit for the banking sector under coverage is expected at 56 billion baht, down 10% from the same period a year earlier but up 1% from the previous quarter. Banks are expected to keep paying high dividends for 2026, with a dividend yield of 5-6%, because they have high capital funds, are maintaining medium- to long-term plans to raise ROE, and have no large new investments. For the second half of 2026, dividends are expected to offer a dividend yield of 3-5%. KTB and KKP are expected to pay higher-than-expected dividends for 2026 because they announced larger-than-expected dividends for the first half of 2026.
KBANK.BK · Capital · Positive Krungsri Securities names KBANK a Top Pick, benefiting most from the new investment round and rising ROE theme.
KTB.BK · Capital · Positive Krung Thai Bank is chosen as a Top Pick, benefiting most from the investment theme, and is expected to pay higher-than-expected 2026 dividends.
KKP.BK · Capital · Positive KTB and KKP are expected to pay higher-than-expected 2026 dividends after larger-than-expected H1 2026 payouts.

KBANK expects baht to trade at 33.20-33.90 next week, eyes Thai and Middle East inflation

Kasikornbank, or KBANK, expects the baht to move within a range of 33.20 to 33.90 baht per US dollar next week, from October 5 to 9, 2026. The Kasikorn Research Center said the key factors to watch are Thailand's September inflation figures, unrest in the Middle East, and the direction of government bond yields worldwide, especially in the United States. On the US economic data front next week, the market will be watching the services PMI and ISM indexes, September consumer inflation expectations, the preliminary October consumer confidence index, weekly jobless claims, and the minutes of the US Federal Reserve meeting held on September 15-16. It will also be watching the September services PMI for China, Japan, the Eurozone, and the United Kingdom. As for the baht's movement over the past week, from September 28 to October 1, it weakened to 33.71 baht per US dollar, its weakest level in more than two months since July 27, 2026. The main pressure came from global oil prices surging on uncertainty in the Middle East after President Donald Trump rejected Iran's proposal to open the Strait of Hormuz, along with negative factors from global gold prices falling below 4,200 US dollars per ounce. On Friday, October 2, 2026, the baht closed at 33.58 baht per US dollar, compared with 33.36 baht per US dollar the previous Friday. Foreign investor portfolio positions between September 28 and October 2, 2026 showed net selling of 26,769 million baht in Thai stocks and capital outflows of 9,853 million baht from the Thai bond market, split into net selling of 9,848 million baht and 5 million baht in maturing debt instruments.
USDTHB.FOREX · Monetary · Positive Article forecasts baht at 33.20-33.90/USD, with the baht recently weakened by Middle East oil surge and capital outflows.
Kasikorn Research Center Co., Ltd. · Monetary · Neutral Kasikorn Research Center is the source of the baht forecast and key-factor watchlist, but the news carries no direct financial impact on the research unit.

Krungsri says bank stocks KTB and KBANK look attractive for accumulation after flood-risk selloff

Krungsri Securities said the flood situation bears watching, with the risk of inundation from dam water releases as of October 1 holding steady from the previous day. Nationwide dam water levels stood at 81%, compared with the October 2021-2025 average of 80.4% and 92% on October 11. The western and eastern regions were highest at 96%, while the central region stood at 88%. The research team assessed risk area by area, citing the case of Amata City Industrial Estate in Chonburi province, where phases 6-9 were partially flooded, causing AMATA shares to swing wildly yesterday. Overall, however, the situation is expected to fall mainly under the scenario of flooding in riverside communities, similar to a normal year, and the risk of rain behind the dams during the short transition from the rainy season to winter in the October 5-8 period still needs monitoring. On the KSS Strategist View, even though the market is still waiting to assess those risks, the bright spot is that the SET has already priced in a 2.7% de-risking after the floods. It therefore maintains its view that the banking group, which was sold off on de-risking earlier, is the main group at 5.2% and looks interesting for re-accumulation, with a focus on KTB and KBANK.
KBANK.BK · Capital · Positive Krungsri Securities names KBANK among the banking group sold off on flood de-risking and now attractive for re-accumulation.
KTB.BK · Capital · Positive Krungsri Securities names KTB among the banking group sold off on flood de-risking and now attractive for re-accumulation.
AMATA.BK · Supply · Neutral Phases 6-9 of Amata City Industrial Estate partially flooded, causing AMATA shares to swing wildly, but overall flood risk seen as a normal-year scenario.

Brokers expect Q3/2026 banking sector core profit to grow 5% to 42.9 billion baht

Bualuang Securities' Research team estimates that the combined core profit of the banking sector in the third quarter of 2026 will be 42.9 billion baht, up 5% YoY and 7% QoQ, higher than the third-quarter 2026 GDP estimate of 2.0% YoY. Two main factors support this: lower provisioning and growing fee income. For provisioning, the sector's average rate is expected at 1.30%, down 17bps YoY and 2bps QoQ, while the average non-performing loan ratio to total loans is expected to edge up slightly from 2.98% at the end of June 2026 to 3.00% at the end of September 2026. The ratio of loan-loss reserves to non-performing loans is expected at 204.1%, flat QoQ. Total net fee income is expected at 40.3 billion baht, up 14% YoY and 5% QoQ, driven mainly by the wealth management business, whose combined net asset value of bank-owned asset management companies stood at 7.8 trillion baht at the end of August 2026, up 4% since the start of the quarter and up 11% YoY. Securities brokerage fee income is likely to grow significantly both YoY and QoQ, from securities trading value expected to rise 64% YoY and 34% QoQ in the third quarter of 2026. Counting total net profit of the banking sector in the third quarter of 2026, it is expected at 55.2 billion baht, down 11% YoY and flat QoQ, due to lower average net interest margin and lower mark-to-market gains on financial instruments. Banks expected to post YoY core profit growth are KKP +73%, TISCO +23%, BBL +20%, KBANK +5% and TTB +4%, while KTB is expected to see core profit fall 11% YoY and SCB is expected to be flat YoY. For the fourth quarter of 2026, combined core profit is expected at 39.7 billion baht, up 10% YoY but down 8% QoQ, on higher operating expenses. For 2027, the banking sector's combined net profit is expected at 221 billion baht, up 1% YoY, supported by loan growth expected at 2% YoY and net fee income growth of 4% YoY, while average net interest margin has likely already passed its trough in the second quarter of 2026 after most loan and deposit rate adjustments were completed.
BBL.BK · Capital · Positive Bualuang expects BBL to post +20% YoY core profit growth in Q3/2026, driven by lower provisioning and higher fee income.
KBANK.BK · Capital · Positive Bualuang expects KBANK to post +5% YoY core profit growth in Q3/2026 on lower provisioning and growing fee income.
KKP.BK · Capital · Positive Bualuang expects KKP to post the sector's strongest core profit growth at +73% YoY in Q3/2026.
KTB.BK · Capital · Negative Bualuang expects KTB's core profit to fall 11% YoY in Q3/2026, the weakest among the listed banks.
SCB.BK · Capital · Neutral Bualuang expects SCB's core profit to be flat YoY in Q3/2026, neither growth nor decline.

KSS says SET is starting to base out, flood situation 65% past its peak, recommends 6 standout stocks

Koraphat Worachet, Head of Research at Krungsri Securities Public Company Limited, or KSS, said on the stock-focused market news program on October 1, 2026, that the Thai stock market has a chance to begin forming a base from now on if there are no additional significant negative factors from the flood situation. He assessed that overall water conditions have about a 65% chance of having already passed their peak, although some areas still face the risk of another round of flooding, the severity is not expected to exceed that of the past weekend. On the impact, KSS stated that water levels in the northern region that could flow down and add to the situation remain at about 70-75% of the level seen during the great flood of 2011, and if the impact is limited to one to two weeks, it could affect GDP by about 0.3%, compared with 2011, when the impact on GDP reached as much as about 3%. On investment strategy, KSS recommended six standout stocks: KBANK and KTB in the banking group, on the trend of large corporate customer loans growing in line with investment in data centers and AI infrastructure; KCE and DELTA in the electronic components group, with KSS raising its target price for KCE to 69.70 baht; PTTGC in the petrochemical group, on its joint venture cooperation with the Siam Cement Group and the chance of support from the MSCI index review in November; and COM7 in the consumer and finance group, on the trend of continued growth in smartphone and IT equipment sales. Asia Plus says SETBANK down 4.3% over one month, recommends accumulating KTB and KBANK

Asia Plus Securities stated that although the US PCE figure for August came in at 3.4% year-on-year, below market expectations, US 2-year and 10-year bond yields remain elevated at 4.89% and 5.28%, creating volatility for bank stocks in many countries. In the one month since Jackson Hole, the MSCI ACWI Banks index has fallen 3.4%, compared with a 1.3% decline in the MSCI ACWI, while the SETBANK index has continued to slide over the past two days, bringing its one-month loss to 4.3%, led by KKP down 6%, followed by KTB down 5.7% and KBANK down 5.6%, against a 1.9% decline in the SET. On the flood situation as of September 29, the Ministry of Industry reported that 40 provinces have been affected and that 204 SME operators have joined the debt-payment suspension programme, representing debt of about 769 million baht, a proportion that is not high compared with the 14 trillion baht in loans held by the eight banks. The research team estimates that every 0.25% increase in the risk-free rate above its assumption would reduce fair value by 4%, and views the correction in bank stocks as having already priced in some of the pressure from bond yields. It recommends gradually accumulating banks whose prices have fallen more than average over the past month, such as KTB, which has a fair value of 48 baht, followed by KBANK, which has a fair value of 259 baht and a PBV that has dropped to 0.9 times, compared with the sector average of 1.1 times.
KBANK.BK · Capital · Positive Asia Plus recommends gradually accumulating KBANK, noting its PBV has dropped to 0.9x versus the 1.1x sector average, with fair value 259 baht.
KTB.BK · Capital · Positive Asia Plus recommends accumulating KTB, which fell 5.7% over the past month, with a fair value of 48 baht.
US-10Y.GB · Monetary · Positive The article notes the US 10-year bond yield remains elevated at 5.28%, and every 0.25% rise above assumptions cuts bank fair value by 4%.
US-2Y.GB · Monetary · Positive The article notes the US 2-year bond yield remains elevated at 4.89%, driving volatility in bank stocks.
KKP.BK · Monetary · Negative KKP led the SETBANK decline, down 6% over the past month, as elevated US bond yields pressured bank stocks.

DAOL Expects SET to Be Volatile Today, Highlights ADVANC with 13% Q3 Profit Growth, Buy Rating and 435 Baht Target

DAOL Securities (Thailand) expects the SET index to be volatile today but sees momentum better than the previous day after PCE figures came in below expectations, giving a support range of 1,530-1,545 points and a resistance range of 1,572-1,586 points. It noted that still-high US bond yields put emerging markets at risk of fund flows returning to the US, and recommended using sharp share price declines as an opportunity to accumulate fundamentally strong stocks, especially banks, where it still likes KTB, KBANK and KKP. For today's top pick, it recommends buying ADVANC, expecting normal profit in the third quarter of 2026 at 13.6 billion baht, up 13% year on year and down 1% quarter on quarter, driven by the mobile and FBB businesses where net adds and ARPU improved. It maintained its 2026 profit forecast at 53.5 billion baht, up 12% year on year, with the fourth quarter of 2026 to be supported by the high season and a full quarter of recognition of new iPhone sales. Meanwhile, flooding in Bangkok, its surrounding provinces and more than 20 other provinces pressured bank and insurance stocks, sending the SET to close yesterday at 1,559.01 points, down 2.21%. Six major banks announced relief measures for customers, such as a three-to-six-month suspension of principal and interest payments and special-rate rehabilitation loans. As for the Thailand-US trade agreement talks, the principles were concluded on September 30, as disclosed by Deputy Prime Minister and Commerce Minister Supajee, but the Access Capacity measure remains, with Thailand aiming to finalise details before November to avoid higher tariffs and targeting an overall tariff rate of no more than 19%.
ADVANC.BK · Capital · Positive DAOL's top pick with a Buy rating and 435 baht target, expecting Q3 2026 profit up 13% YoY on mobile/FBB net adds and ARPU.
KBANK.BK · Regulation · Neutral Named among banks DAOL still likes, but also among banks pressured by flooding and offering relief measures like payment suspensions.
KKP.BK · Regulation · Neutral Named among banks DAOL still likes, but also among banks pressured by flooding and offering relief measures like payment suspensions.

Krungsri keeps Thai stock index target at 1,680-1,750 points this year, highlights 7 top picks for Q4 2026

Krungsri Securities maintains its Base-Best target for the Thai stock market index this year at 1,680-1,750 points, based on EPS of 103 baht, up from 98 baht, at a P/E of 17.0 times. The near-term momentum comes from the earnings quality of two main groups: those benefiting from energy and inflation, and those gaining momentum from the upstream AI CAPEX cycle, which is expected to help listed companies' profits continue expanding for at least two more quarters, namely the third and fourth quarters of this year. The research team assigns an Overweight investment weighting to three main groups: the group benefiting from the CAPEX cycle, covering the power sector with a recommendation for GULF, banking with a recommendation for KBANK, electronic components with a recommendation for DELTA, and construction contracting with a recommendation for SCC; the NTM Re-ratings group with potential to recover over the next 12 months or re-enter the MSCI index, such as THAI, PTTGC and TOP; and the agriculture and food group, covering agricultural substitutes, which benefits from Super El Niño, such as IVL. At the same time, it has raised its forecast for Thailand's GDP this year to 2.1% from 1.9%, supported by private investment rising 8.6% and exports rising 14.0%. Meanwhile, the pipeline of large-scale investment covers FDI/BOI, the PDP2026 worth 2.14 to 2.48 trillion baht, and mega projects worth 1.3 trillion baht. For the fourth quarter of 2026, the research team expects the index to move within a support range of 1,560 to 1,550 points and a resistance range of 1,680 to 1,750 points, with top picks for the fourth quarter of 2026 being TOP, PTTGC, SCC, IVL, GULF, DELTA and KBANK.
DELTA.BK · Capital · Positive Krungsri names DELTA among its Q4 2026 top picks and Overweight electronic-components group benefiting from the upstream AI CAPEX cycle.
GULF.BK · Capital · Positive Krungsri recommends GULF in its Overweight power group benefiting from the CAPEX cycle and lists it among Q4 2026 top picks.
IVL.BK · Capital · Positive Krungsri lists IVL among Q4 2026 top picks, citing agricultural substitutes benefiting from Super El Niño.
KBANK.BK · Capital · Positive Krungsri recommends KBANK in its Overweight banking group and includes it among Q4 2026 top picks.

Krungsri sees floods pressuring bank stocks short-term, favors KTB and KBANK for gradual accumulation

Krungsri Securities estimates that flooding will affect GDP by about 0.2% if the situation does not drag on beyond one to two weeks, and views it as a factor pressuring bank stocks in the short term. The banking sector index has fallen about 7% from its peak, and between September 22 and 30, 2026, KTB shares dropped 8.33% while KBANK fell 9.34%, the largest declines among the banks Krungsri studied in this round. Krungsri believes selling in bank stocks has already largely reflected concerns over the flood situation compared with past events, but it cannot yet confirm that the bottom has passed, so it recommends a strategy of gradual accumulation rather than chasing prices. It gives KTB first priority after its 8.33% decline, on the chance it benefits from government-related lending and funding demand for post-flood recovery, followed by KBANK, which fell 9.34% and could be considered for more accumulation if concerns about asset quality, especially among SME customers, begin to ease. Krungsri noted that the roughly 0.2% hit to GDP is significantly lower than the 2011 floods, which were estimated to affect GDP by about 3.0%. The key issues to watch are credit costs and asset quality, with the crucial condition being that the flood situation must not drag on to the point where banks must raise credit costs or significantly cut profit forecasts.
KBANK.BK · Demand · Neutral Krungsri favors KBANK for gradual accumulation, but flags asset-quality/SME credit-cost risk from floods; net mixed.
KTB.BK · Demand · Positive Krungsri gives KTB first priority, citing potential government-related lending and post-flood recovery funding demand.

Brokers say bank stocks will survive, eye Q3 earnings growth, recommend accumulating KKP and CREDIT, wait for a dip on KBANK

Chayut Krailatrattanasiri, Assistant Director of the Securities Analysis Department at Land and Houses Securities, disclosed that the decline in banking stocks, particularly KBANK, stemmed from pressure from foreign capital continuing to flow out of the Thai stock market in September, together with concerns over the earnings outlook for the third quarter of 2026. He expects the group's net profit to fall about 1.6% quarter-on-quarter and 10.6% year-on-year, weighed down by the high profit base of the previous year and the impact of interest rate adjustments. For KBANK, third-quarter net profit is expected to contract by nearly 10% quarter-on-quarter and by roughly 7% year-on-year, while non-interest income should hold up, especially at banks with a strong wealth management business. Investors should monitor the actual earnings announcements in mid-October, with three key variables: the recovery in lending, still-strong asset quality, and financial costs and provisions coming in lower than expected. On investment strategy, he recommends gradual accumulation, selecting individual stocks whose third-quarter earnings can still grow. CREDIT stands out most in the group and is expected to grow both quarter-on-quarter and year-on-year, while KKP is expected to post outstanding growth compared with the same period last year. For KBANK and the large banks, he advises waiting for a good entry point to accumulate.
KBANK.BK · Capital · Negative KBANK's third-quarter net profit is expected to contract nearly 10% quarter-on-quarter and about 7% year-on-year, and brokers advise waiting for a dip before accumulating.
CREDIT.BK · Capital · Positive CREDIT stands out most in the group and is expected to grow both quarter-on-quarter and year-on-year, so brokers recommend accumulating it.

Broker says foreign investors sold 15 billion baht of Thai stocks, advises gradual accumulation of bank shares

Pi Securities reported that foreign investors continued to sell Thai stocks, with net selling totaling roughly 15 billion baht since the start of September, and heavy selling occurred yesterday when about 7 billion baht flowed out in a single day. One of the most heavily sold groups was banking, which along with energy and electronics has been one of the standout performers this year, prompting profit-taking in shares such as SCB, KBANK and BBL. KTB's price was less volatile because buying from Vayupak Fund helped support it. Part of the selling pressure stemmed from bank share prices that had risen very strongly earlier, combined with global market uncertainty including the U.S. debt problem, oil prices, inflation concerns and rising bond yields, as well as the direction of U.S. interest rates, where the market is increasingly seeing a chance of a hike, leading some investors to reduce risk and lock in profits first. The recent decline in the SET is therefore not too worrying, because both market fundamentals and domestic buying continue to help support it. As for the banking group, although it may still face profit-taking pressure in the short term and this quarter's earnings may not grow as strongly as before, the overall fundamental picture has not changed, especially the banks' still-strong financial positions, combined with high yield levels and dividend payouts early next year that will provide another supporting factor. Therefore, if bank share prices fall on foreign selling, it is still seen as an opportunity to gradually accumulate rather than to reduce exposure.
BBL.BK · Capital · Negative BBL is among the banking group hit by foreign profit-taking selling after strong gains, with short-term earnings growth seen weaker.
KBANK.BK · Capital · Negative KBANK is one of the heavily sold bank shares as foreign investors locked in profits after strong earlier gains.
SCB.BK · Capital · Negative SCB is named among the banking shares subject to foreign profit-taking selling after very strong price gains.
KTB.BK · Capital · Neutral KTB saw less volatile selling pressure because Vayupak Fund buying supported it, though it still faces sector profit-taking and softer quarterly earnings.

Constitutional Court Rules Barcode Ballots Do Not Violate Constitution, Boosting Investor Confidence

The Constitutional Court has ruled that the Election Commission's use of barcodes and QR codes on constituency MP ballots on 8 February 2026 does not violate the constitution, after the Ombudsman filed a petition arguing that the codes could be traced back to individual voters and would breach the principle of secret voting. The court found that in practice tracing is extremely difficult and that adequate safeguards are in place. That election therefore remains valid and does not need to be rerun, and the court merely recommended considering alternative security measures for future elections. The outcome removes the most severe scenario the capital markets had feared, namely a nationwide annulment of the election leading to a political and policy vacuum. With the ruling of no wrongdoing, it is expected to be positive for overall market sentiment and for foreign investor confidence thanks to reduced political risk, especially for large-cap stocks with high foreign holdings and sectors that depend on continuity of government policy, such as construction contractors, power, industrial estates and banks, since the government can continue administering the country as normal. The investment themes that benefit most include industrial estates AMATA and WHA, power producers GULF, GPSC, BGRIM and GUNKUL, contractors STECON, CK, PYLON and INSET, banks KBANK, KTB and KKP, and component makers DELTA and HANA. Meanwhile, in overall trading yesterday, the Thai stock index closed at 1,594.30 points, down 8.07 points, while Thai Airways, or THAI, closed at 6.05 baht, down 0.10 baht or 1.36%, amid a backlog of more than 5,600 pieces of unclaimed baggage. Thai Airways management explained that the main cause was a shortage of manpower, especially baggage handling teams and staff holding ground operation licences who were affected by flooding and unable to travel to work. In addition, Bangkok is Thai Airways' main aviation hub, so when a large number of employees are affected at the same time, the operating system comes under heavy pressure. The issue arose while Thai Airways is pressing ahead with its rehabilitation plan and its operating results have begun returning to profit. What the market and investors must therefore monitor from here on is not just the numbers in the financial statements, but also the efficiency of the operating system and the ability to cope with a crisis.
AMATA.BK · Regulation · Positive Constitutional Court ruling removes election-annulment risk, supporting policy continuity that benefits industrial estate operator AMATA.
BGRIM.BK · Regulation · Positive Ruling reduces political risk and supports continuity of government policy, a positive for power producer BGRIM.
CK.BK · Regulation · Positive Court decision avoids political/policy vacuum, benefiting construction contractor CK through continued government policy continuity.
DELTA.BK · Regulation · Positive Reduced political risk and continued normal government administration are positive for component maker DELTA.
GPSC.BK · Regulation · Positive Ruling removes feared election annulment, supporting policy continuity that benefits power producer GPSC.

Krungsri sees Bangkok floods pressuring banks and finance firms, risking asset quality

Krungsri Securities said continuous heavy rain in Bangkok and its vicinity from September 24-27, 2026, caused flooding in many areas. Its research team holds a slightly negative view on the Bank and Consumer Finance sectors because of asset quality risks, including provisioning expenses, credit cost, and non-performing loans. It estimates that for every 0.05% increase in provisioning expenses, net profit for the Bank and Consumer Finance sectors in 2027 would face downside of 2.1% and 0.9%, respectively. However, the research team expects financial institutions to roll out borrower relief measures, including debt payment holidays, lower installments and interest rates, and additional loans at special interest rates, which would help reduce the impact on asset quality. It noted that some banks have already introduced borrower relief measures and expects other financial institutions to follow with measures of their own. On investment strategy, Krungsri's research team maintains a BULLISH recommendation on the Bank sector, keeping KBANK with a target price of 300 baht and KTB with a target price of 55 baht as Top Picks. For Consumer Finance stocks, it maintains a NEUTRAL recommendation, keeping KTC with a target price of 54 baht as its Top Pick.
KBANK.BK · Capital · Neutral Krungsri keeps KBANK as Top Pick with 300 baht target despite slightly negative sector view on flood-driven asset-quality risk.

Krungsri Securities: Thai stocks to fluctuate above 1,600 points, watch US-China leaders

Krungsri Securities said the Thai stock market between 21 and 24 September 2026 moved above the 1,600-point level, supported by positive expectations that the US leader will meet the Chinese leader on 24-25 September, which boosts the prospect of further trade easing. Meanwhile, the electronics group gained positive momentum from AI after President Trump confirmed that the US will continue developing AI despite safety concerns, together with a boost from META's new AI that is helping accelerate demand. The refinery and petrochemical group, such as TOP, SPRC and PTTGC, rose on news that the US is preparing to ban or halt diesel exports, which if implemented would tighten diesel supply in the market and push refining margins higher. The banking group, such as KBANK and BBL, also rose on positive sentiment, supported by news that Fitch Ratings raised its outlook on Thailand's creditworthiness to Stable while keeping the credit rating at BBB+. The groups that fell more sharply than others included retail, such as CRC and CPALL, which faced negative sentiment from the Cabinet resolution extending the Thai Chuay Thai Plus measure, and exporters such as CPF, whose share price fell in line with Chinese hog prices, which dropped 1.8% week-on-week to RMB 10.64 per kg, or 53.00 baht per kg, from a cost of RMB 13.50 per kg, because of oversupply. Meanwhile, Thai hog prices were flat week-on-week at 75.50 baht per kg, against a cost of 60.00 baht per kg. Market earnings for 2026F stood at 110.9 baht, up slightly week-on-week, with the groups whose estimates were revised up being petrochemicals and packaging, while the groups revised down were agriculture and property. Last week, capital flowed out of Asia excluding Japan by a total of 1.661 billion dollars, with Thailand seeing an outflow of 95 million dollars, split into net stock sales of 107.5 million dollars and net bond buying of 12 million dollars. The baht was flat at 33.3 baht.
